If that lake band sets up tonight, after the storm passes - there will be another round of snow that is equal to, or greater than the amount the storm will drop today & tonight. That would make this stom a real big one (in the 24" to 30" range for LCC/BCC) plus a bit more on Thursday & Friday, then another significant storm Saturday into Sunday.

Even though I'm not making use of this report RB, I want to thank you for taking the time to give us the inside scoop, time and time again!

remember, north = good snow today but no lake effect...
Well it appears that it wont suck up north even tomorrow.
    Thanks for the info RB

Thanks RB, always appreciated...I just wish this weekend wasn't one of the busiest times of the year...I think my touring gear will get used if we get any sort of good weather the next 5 days

This afternoon was really, really good. Little bit of firmness underneath depending on where you were skiing, but by 3 it was pretty much all fluff. Was puking at 4:30 when we left.

ps...was that a maggot at the top of collins around 3:30ish saying to his buddy "time to hop on the pain train! woo woo!"?

That is good news. I passed on this afternoon, figuring 3 inches of new wasn't going to cover up anything. That, and I woke up at 1:30. See you in the morning.

Just drove up from Salt Lake to my place in PC.

Slut Lake = getting nuked, 30mph max on the freeways
Pork Shitty = not a sniff, roads totally clear

^ just walked in from work myself (gotta luv jackasses that can't do their fuggin jobs )

215 on the west side and se side is absolutely barren and completely snow packed - can barely tell it is even an inerstate.

was actually contemplating just pulling an all-nighter to work then head up to beat the road closure; then i checked the collins plot and saw only 3" and decided to sleep and work instead.

    have fun later today kiddies

    Talking

    strange drive up tonight myself...

city was worse driving than the canyon. Go figure.

unfortunately I just walked around Solitude village 10 minutes ago and it's really only like 2 inches of new and not doing much. Dud?

    I give this buildup/nondelivery 4 out of a possible 5 blueballs

    and a finger moustachio

on the upside, str8line, bobmc, and yetiman will probably be absolutely killing it in the Michigan-like flat light/dust on crust conditions. Maybe I'll complete the walk down michigan memory lane by skiing some skinny 210s and lapping the smallest chair I can find.

Damn, I got more snow than LCC in my front yard. Who wants to come build a kicker off my roof?

Question: How can a city so close to mountains that gets snow with some regularity be so full of insanely (incomprehensibly) bad snow drivers? 206 wrecks were reported yesterday evening in Salt Lake County alone!

yeah, i think i saw at least 5 or 6 accidents in a small amount of time yesterday, it was nuts! You would think people know how to slow down and drive in these conditions. Obviously NOT.

I think i'll go to the gym and head into work this am instead of skiing...how many times is this that the forcast has been off? I can't keep count.

See you all skiing this weekend for shizzle

We went downtown for dinner last night and the roads were awful and there was a lot more snow downtown than there was once you got to Sandy, where the roads were still pretty clear. Weird.

you guys should've seen how 215 looked at 1:30 this morning ... as well as the fresh tracks turning completely perpendicular to the concrete barrier - he must've got stopped just barely before the hitting the barrier hard cause there were no signs of impact - bet he was crapping his pants though

SLC should get about 4" in that time frame, LCC/BCC resorts should get about 13", with lesser amounts in the Ogden area mountains, about 10" there. Yes, these numbers are different than the NWS, as we have different thoughts about this storm. I still say the model they are going with is too wet.
Ok, let's do some verification here:

SLC official total: 3.7" vs my forecast of 4"
Alta official total: 11" vs. my forecast of 13" (closer than anyone else!)
Snowbasin official total: 11" vs. my forecast of 10"

    I'm happy with those results.

that's damn impressive. what sucks is that people don't realize that you typically don't forecast rainfall amonts in the warm season. So if it rains 0.75" versus 0.25", people don't give a shit and they just know that it rained. Thus, the weather dork on TV was correct. But in the winter that's 2-3 inches versus 8 and, of course, the local weather guy gets reamed for being wrong "again".

    where's the love?!

So, when are we going to get a real storm, not just a little dusting? I got stuff that needs to get done and this little 11" just isn't enough.

    Yes, I'm a spoiled bitch.

Edit: Nice job with the forecast though RB.

I'm sorry RB, let me clarify...I think I'll stop checking the Alta website and the links on there. I'll just stick to yours.

No offense taken, with all the different forecasts out there, someone's bound to be right...this time it happened to be me. Now let me go outside and shove the 9.2 inches of snow off my driveway here in Sugarhouse...
