    Rutland, VT. is stupid.

Second ticket in two years going through that dump. And little Mr Crewcut did it with a smile on his face. Asked me if I was an active member of the military. So what's that buy me, license to blow through shithole Rutland quickly anytime I want?

Fuck 'em. Like that part of the state is awash in business. If it wasn't for shithole KMart, they'd be selling their daughters for beer money. I'll take my skiing budget to Gore. Let them tax the friggin cows.

It does not buy you shit....I got a ticket in rutland last year, guy asked my why I had a colorado license and a PA registration, I told him i just got out of the army and moved to PA.....he gave me the ticket and then asked me the same question, i think it has to with court appearnces and shit or something. Look at your ticket there should be a question on there asking you if you are in the military.......I got pulled over September 12 2001 in Colorado, In uniform, with a NY state licesne.......no breaks.

agreed. rut-vegas is the armpit of the beautiful green mtn state and the cops there do truely suck. i've been nailed in my youth numerous times by the po-po just south of rutville on rte 7. always got a ticket and no warning, but at least i was never asked to step out of the vehicle due to certain stereotypical appearances and pungent aromas emenating from inside .

I don't have any sympathy for you. Some towns you just shouldn't be dumb enough to speed through. Rutland is one. Woodstock is most definitely another. When the police department is the largest employer in the town, that might mean there's a lot of radar-happy cops.

Shmerham's got it. I've lived outside Rutland and driven through countless times since then and have never gotten a ticket there. It sounds to me like you guys were driving like you were in NY

Benny has become quite a mellow driver after moving up here. My drive over to lovely Killington Sat. night was particularly calm and lawful. No tailgating, slowing down to nothing in Ft Ann and Whitehall. So I'm in a group of 5 cars doing 48 in a 35 mile zone - not in a school or residential area, mind you, but a dormant 4 lane commercial strip on Saturday night. Dangerous? please, I see much stupider shit done every day by morons in SUVs and pickup trucks.
I've driven through that town some mornings and have seen 5 traps between the Rt. 4 / 7 intersection and Mendon. Is this a buisness? I think so.

So if you know about it, why speed? Going an extra 13 mph through Rutland is going to subtract about 5 minutes at most off your total travel.

It's sort of like intentionally sticking your hand in the fire and then complaining that it was hot.

I got pinched last night going 84 mph on I-87 South just past Albany.

One of those tickets where you have to plead guilty first before they tell you how much the fine is. My first ticket in a few years. What made it all worth while was making the cop get out of his cruiser in the snow.

Yo, Aldo, what's the deal for Jersey or New York drivers? If I go over the 10 point limit in Vermont, I only lose my driving priveleges in the Green molehill rainy state, right?

They're all punks. Every last one of them!

...and the ticket that Aldo got away with in Bennington was the one that I got at the end last year... guy had me get of the car and empty my pockets (still in ski/snowboard pants) on the hood of his cruiser and asked me why my eyes are red - - they're called contacts! and your eyes get mighty red after a day of skiing! and asked me a million times if I had any drugs / drug paraphrenalia (sp??) on me....

ummh...they're cops. They have an inferiority complex to people in uniform.

I had to do one of those "Alive @ 25" programs when I got in trouble with Johnny Law and the officer leading the class described his "unit" as being a "paramilitary" organization. i.e. not quite military.

Just as an aside, the fattest cop I've ever seen used to spend the day at the bottom of the K-Mart access road ticketing people for not turning properly - mainly not stopping fully before turning right on red. Seriously - fucker musta weighed 500lbs. This was 20 years ago. Betcha he's feeding alot of worms now.

Road Trip: Unless he smelled something, which is probable cause in most states, that cop was breaking the law.

That's the story you told your kids. Tell us how you really got out of it.
You can cut me off from the civilized world. You can incarcerate me with two moronic cellmates. You can torture me with your thrice daily swill, but you cannot break the spirit of a Winchester. My voice shall be heard from this wilderness, and I shall be delivered from this fetid and festering sewer.

It's my understanding that VT only transfers points if you don't pay your fine on time. Also I think that asking if your in the military is something all the cops in VT do these days. Why I have no idea but then again this is the same state where they have a border patrol check point in the middle of the state.

Well, the same border patrolling has been going on over here on the Northway. I haven't been up there this winter, but around exit 25 they have had an elaborate setup stopping everybody 24/7. In the same place, for at least 2 years. Many ways to get around it.

    Vermauhnnt!

The skier speeding traps are insane for boston skiers. You can easily count double digit traps before you hit the exit for stowe from boston.

This insanity is frequently repeated on I70 CO at the base of the foothills. I had my POS rental on cruise at 75 heading the the x games. I chugged up the last hill and decided the smell of my melting brakes was getting tiresome so I let it roll and what to my watchful eye should appear but a jefferson county cop. I hit 82 in a 75 and got a nice ticket. He was especially steath with all of his lights off ducked into the median.

Good Score buddy, Jeff Co got $116.. I got first tracks waist deep in highlands bowl and the rest of the world is safer because of it. (at least those who are traveling I 70 at 3 AM on a Thursday)
