i'd like to sign up for the blown ACL club card and secret decoder ring. who do i talk to about that?
Ssssssoooooooo..... i got my MRI results from my injury at alpental back on the 30th. it was a 15-20 footer to knee pop to gnar sled ride to the patrol shack.
it turns out that i detached my MCL down on the tibia (level three tear), tore my ACL and put a chip fracture on the back of my knee on my tibia under the miniscus (which really isn't a big deal).
so i got the big zero degree locked brace on the leg now to promote the MCL to heal. 6 weeks of that then ACL surgery at the end of march. my quad is already a bit smaller, JOY!!!
the ortho i saw at University of Washington Sports Med gave me the option of the cadaver route or a quad graft. i had not seen much on quad grafts, but after doing a bit of googling it looks pretty good. little less pain than a patella graft, no numbness in the knee. it's a bone to lig graft so they bone plug the top and then screw the lower in place like a hamstring. i guess it's a newer thing, but just as strong at the patella graft.
i'm also going to another proven ortho for a second opinion just for my own piece of mind.
so i take it i'll be seeing a bit more of Gimp Central and will be reporting my progress etc... along the way.
and good thing i got a road bike late last summer. have a feeling i'll be putting er' to lots of use in a few months.
Damn BC, sorry to hear that. Lot of mags going down this year, reminds me of 2 years ago when I was the first of like 10 Work hard in rehab, get a good doc, listen to him, and you'll be back just as strong.
