WTB: Used Freeride Brakes (any width)

Looking for a cheap set of brakes for my 05/06 fritschi freerides.

I wanna remove the metal brake arms and just keep the plastic platform part to lighten up the bindings a bit for longer tours, so condition/width of metal brake arms doesn't matter.

Somebody out there must have some skinny brakes that don't fit over their fat skis?

I think you could possibly go even lighter if you put the plate from a titanal on the binder. I am pretty sure this would work with the old grey ones; not sure if the newer ones are different. Titanals didn't normally have breaks as standard - but they did have the same mounting as the freerides so you could add them as an extra. The mounting was covered by a little plate (this is what I'm talking about) that you prised off to reveal the brake mount point. I reckon you could clip or glue one of the plates onto your bindings. You might pick them up free as people normally threw them out after they put on brakes.

I have some normal width brakes if you need 'em (and decide not to go with Mulletizer's suggestion (which seems like a good one for weight redux)).

    price?

Hey Upallnight, how much you want for brakes + shipping? Are they from the older grey ones or the new white ones? I'm not sure if they've changed the pattern or not.

Mulletizer's plan sounds good, but more work in hunting down the platforms [lazy]

Why not just disassemble the brakes and remove the arms? They go together/ come apart very easily.

I want to do that to the second pair - and keep my current brakes intact so I can swap easily from 'frontcountry mode' with brakes to 'backcountry mode' for touring. It looks to me like I'd break all those little plastic bits if I repeatedly removed/installed the arms (with my ham hands)

I have a couple pairs, one of which is spoken for already.
PM me in a week, and I should be able to dig up a pair of standard brakes you can have.
