... they close the bunny lift to save money.
That's right, the lift that serves the bunny slope has been closed for the last few days. This was done simply to save money. As a result first time skiers are having to ski a much longer and somewhat steeper run (Easy Street off Access Express for those who know the area). This is making my life as a ski instructor pretty miserable. I still haven't figured out what to do with first-timers, since there isn't really a decent bunny slope. I have the kids area, which is a great starting point (but too flat for snowboarders) but gets old really quickly, and I have Access express, which is fine for athletic students, but really is too steep to teach on. I've been just taking people up Access, but at some point a student is going to have a bad experience (injury, fear, etc) simply because the resort was too cheap to pay for 3 lift operators (3 operators x 8 hours x $10 = $240 < 5 day passes x $49)
edit - The resort in question is Bear Mountain. (Of course the people making this decision are at Snow Summit, since they own the resort and are doing their best to turn us into a second-class resort.)
