I'm planning a trip to NZ this June to surf/ride. I'm hoping that someone here can give me the scoops on how cold the water is on the North/South islands during those months, and whether or not the waves are good. Also, I'm pretty much a gaper on the snow (born and raised in Hawaii, with in-bounds experience at Baker, Crystal, and St. Anton), so where is the best place for me to ride pow-terrain that isn't ridiculously gnar?
