    The Suckhole That Is "Contact"

To begin, I like Jody Foster. I find her mildly attractive, and actually watched panic room for that reason.

WHAT IS THE FUCKING DEAL WITH THIS MOVIE THOUGH? Is there any film that is so diabolically frustrating. You begin the movie with hope almost every time, thinking that possibly..... MAYBE.... you misjudged it the last time. Then you remember...... STILL watching as there isn't anything else on........ hating every moment that the reaches your corneas..... You attempt to stick a losange full of morphine in your nose until you remember that, that particular action makes more sense than the morons who greenlighted this peace of shit.

Yet you watch it to the end, once again saying.

"That movie sucked" "May my head now be lopped off my shoulders"

Then Carl Sagan rises from the grave and exclaims

"Holy fuck did that suck, whoever did the screenplay for that movie should rot in hell."

He decides that death is better than watching so he closes the coffin. You then flick around looking for a christina ricci movie settling for The Princess Diaries 2 with the sound turned off.

    thank you.
    I loved the book.
    read it young
    read it again
    and again
I love Jodie Foster, in an impure wierd kind of way.
I like Matthew McCona hey or however you spell it in animpure wierd sort of way.
but inital reviews from friends I trust steered me away.
I have been tempted may times,
    but you save me again.

Although I think my GF may have qued it on Net flix when she saw my old tattered copy of the book and I told her I never saw the movie.

even if it shows up in the little red package don't see it. It is all the suckhole that is described above.

The weird thing is, I go through all the motions described above as well (minus watching the princess diaries 2).

This movie fucking sucks. I nearly got thrown out of the theater when I saw it, because I kept yelling "give me a fucking break!" at the screen. The fact that I consumed a Thermos full of screwdrivers during the course of the film didn't help my tact much, and I apologize to anyone unlucky enough to be at the 8:00 West Falmouth screening that night, except basom, because afterwards he said he liked it to piss me off even more.

The movie was a bit hokey and dumbed down for the general audiences, but I liked the beginning of Contact in that I think they did a great job of showing the sense of excitement any scientist has over a huge discovery.

And that sabotuer...saboteur...whatever, character was a total waste of filmtime and served no purpose. They should have followed the book a little more faithfully.

Y'alls know that Carl Sagan died during the filming, right? Maybe he foresaw how bad the movie was going to be and it killed him? Okay, it sounded funny while I was writing it.

Sagan's "Dragons of Eden" is also a pretty interesting read, I thought. And I guess I'm pretty indifferent to the flick "Contact".

I too, really liked Contact. Yeah there were stupid parts, and only seeing pops as the alien at the end sucked. But I had goosebumps the whole way through.

Its very mediocre- only when muted, stoned, and listening to the Pixies.

I loved the book... and find the movie pretty good.
Oh well, no accounting for taste, but it's sci-fi and I like that stuff. Even when it's bad.

    Now Battlefield Earth...
    That was un-redeemable!

This movie is a bit old to rile up such hatred. I thought it was mediocre with a bad ending. However the old man, owner of the big corporation (Haden or something) was cool. A rip on Halliburton or Honeywell and/or Dick Cheney.
