    It looks like she tried tasting it to.

    Maybe she should have tried snorting the snow to get a better idea of the conditions.

    Based on that clip it appears that movie should be mandatory viewing for any Level 1 class.

    It still works if you go to Dawson's site. Essentially a woman and her two companions approach a suspect slope, she being the expert advises them to stay behind while she goes and talks to the snow, she also eats the snow as part of her evaluation. They offer to help, she tells them to be quiet as she listens to the snow, just as you would listen for a train at the railroad tracks. She seems to then be swallowed by the snow and the clips ends.

    The acting is stellar. It is a must see for anyone venturing into the backcountry.

    the vid is in the fiction section for those interested. i can't really knock the tasting snow, since i do it myself. though i think my reason may hold more purpose.
