OK, I apologize if this is very "dear diary"-esque, but I'm gonna post it anyway. While I was in Colorado in December with my dad, I got a letter inviting me to apply to spend 8 weeks attending college classes(complete with credits) at Stanford University this summer. After the powder-high wore off, I looked over the letter and decided, "what the hell, its worth a shot."
The program is open to 300 high schoolers and is actually through Stanford, complete with undergrads in your classes, nearly-independent dorm life and over 175 course offerings taught by Stanford professors. After visiting both Stanford and UC Berkeley last summer and falling in love with the area, I figured this would be a good litmus test as to whether or not I could deal with living on the other side of the country.
Well, I finished and submitted my application about 2.5 weeks ago, and thanks to the wonders of online applications and rolling admissions, I received my acceptance letter this afternoon. So I'll be spending my summer at Stanford.8 weeks of gorgeous NorCal weather and classes only 3 or 4 days a week should definitely beat summer in NJ. Sorry for tooting my own horn on here, but I'm super excited to be spending 2 months living in such a great part of the country.
