    Maverick's Surf Contest

Not a ski post but I thought I would throw it out there to those interested... The Maverick's surf contest started this morning just north of Half Moon Bay, CA. Waves aren't that big today although they're still big enough. 18-20ft with the occasional 35ftr rolling in.... Here's a link to a free webcam... http://www.ktvu.com/video/6790909/detail.html

Ok, got the deal on the dead link......Live feed will begin again at 1:30pst on the same link (I think) ...otherwise, go to http://www.ktvu.com/index.html and click on the webcam link from there. There should be highlights from this morning's sessions starting at noon (now) until they start the live feed again @ 1:30....Enjoy!

Well there goes my day thanks man.
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

I'm leaving for lunch, but I'm leaving it up on full screen mode for the viewing pleasure of my coworkers.

Thank you for posting that here. I would not have seen it otherwise.

BZ, I am posting a The O.C. review if you don't calm down.

There's a surfermag cover of one of the Malloy bros tapping the left. It's doable but it's only a big drop and nothing else. The right is what makes Mavs a world class big wave right. The left is more of a novelty.

It's like getting to the top of a mountain and you have two chutes to pick from: one's a few thousand foot of vert- blower pow all the way to the bottom, and the other is blower for the first two turns, then dust on crust that only goes a couple hundred vert.

DAMN! We lost live feed. Fuck!
http://www.ktvu.com/video/6790909/detail.html doesn't work anymore (redirects to the news story).

For those staying in town and hanging out after the contest, here is the best route for parties after:

    1) start at HMB Brewing company. Catch some sitings of some of the surfers. Have a good beer and some grub.

    2) once you've had 2 - or 5 - Maverick Ales, head over to Old Princeton Landing. Be careful. You could easily be beaten to a pulp there if you look like a yuppie .

    3) end up at the Harbor Bar. If you break some beer bottles in the parking lot you get extra gnar points.

Wish I were there - so bummed that I'm back East right now.

    Have fun!!

    I miss the ocean.

    But I love the mountains.......

    Let's see...

I've lived in/near the mountains for 14 years of my life.

I've lived near the ocean (Pacific, Atlantic & Gulf of Mexico) for 11 years of my life.

Lived landlocked and far from mountains for only 3 years of my life.

It's a near split for me...
