Once More, With Feeling: Maggot Summit 2006

It's 4 weeks away. Time enough to get decent airfares and lodging.
Some of us will be beelining to W/BC on March 3rd and skiing and partying until 3/12.

Some of us will be lurking around the Puget Sound until the 8th skiing and then rallying north to W/BC for the 8-12.

Give it another consideration. LeeLau has some deals lined up and is graciously organizing some bar time, dinner time and a cat ski deal.

Nah. It has to be pirates and ninjas. Or at the very least bums and carnies. It's an old thing...

PS Fully committed and looking forward to it, pirates or no pirates.

    Talking

A few more stats to consider as of Feb. 1:

410" ytd at Stevens with Alpental & Crystal reporting similar numbers (that's more than Alta, Snowbird, Jackson, Colorado, and Tahoe). Baker had 300" in January alone and now undoubtedly has surpassed the 500" mark.

Whistler- over 15.6 FEET in January (and that's measured at Pig Alley, which is well below the Alpine)

Whistler was SICK last weekend. If that's any indication of the Summit, it's going to be a freak fest!

If you're not up here- You should be! Looking forward to March!

I won't be able to get any decent pricing on cat skiing as there aren't enough comfirmed skiers.

What I will do is make reservations for restaurants on the weekends when people are going to be skiiing at more reasonably priced restaurants:

Friday march 10th - Zen Sushi (japanese food; sushi, meat dishes etc)

Saturday - March 11th - Carambas (pizza, pasta etc)

You can budget on eating for about $ 20 at each place w.o drinks etc.

I'll book a table of 10 for each place that night and if we have more then that you'll have to take care of yourself. Again without any input or numbers I can't make plans and can't expect the restaurant owners to cut me breaks. If I knew for sure that 30 people would show up on any of those nights I'd reserve a block but I figure the chances of getting that organized are slim to none.

I'll go up and ski wed, thurs, friday, sat so I can show people around. I'm pretty sure pow111 will do the same. pow is that ok with you? My wife will probably be along to kick some ass Canadian grrl style. Depending on conditions we may do the b/c thing in which case whoever is stuck inbounds is stuck inbounds.

I've talked Escape Route into lining up AT and tele and bc gear rentals with a bit of a maggot price - break.

If you want hookups for a bc guide or for Extremely Canadian or if you want to get a 2 for 1 deal for a Dave Murray Ski Camp lesson let me know in advance and I'll do that- its up to you to arrange that yourself.

You guys are coming at pretty much the peak of the season and its that expensive time of the year. I just can't get much of a deal without having numbers.

I can get discount ski rentals too at Snowcovers. Again pm me if you want that. They're in Village North.

squirrel if the viz is good I'll take you up to the north face of Trorey and Pattison. Its fun skiing; closer to then i'll let you know if you need crampons, axe etc. but I doubt it as i don't really want to lead a whole bunch of people over crevassed terrain. Too much responsibility

    Lee,

How many more people do you need for Cat skiing and what are the price breaks. I've got 4 or 5 bros coming into town for that weekend and although they aren't maggots, they throw down pretty well

I had 3 people respond with interest. I need 12 people to fill a cat. Reg price is 449 - yikes. I figured i could get it down to 300 if I could fill a cat on the weekdays. Not sure about w/e prices. Its definitely pricey.

Hey Buster- Nice freakin' Kentucky Fried Movie reference. Didn't know anybody knew about that movie.

Not making the summit, but have fun.

I can probably pull price breaks at Cascade Powdercats near Stevens Pass. But I'll have to ask, and I don't think I'll be around in March.

For those interesting in stopping off in the Puget Sound, I can offer some limited crash space and I can get a deal on lodging and lift via http://www.crystalhotels.com .

    Lemme know if interested.

Only if you stay at the Alpine Inn. But you folks were planning on staying in town, right?

I'll ask Crystal Marketing. The problem is that they will want to sell a block of X tickets. And for maggots, the best I've been able to do on this one involves purely imaginary numbers (sqrt(-1)).

I believe if you buy a book of five tickets you save $5 per, which might be a good way to go. It's not a huge savings, but it's something.

The group sales requires 20 people. That's not 0+20i.

    1. Board Name
    2. Real Name
    3. When you will be attending.
    4. Where you will be staying.
    5. How to contact you there.
    6. How sure are your plans.

It would also be good if everyone Jumped on the stickers if we want to do it this year. I dont how long it takes to complete the process but I would imagine it takes at least a week.

Throw in your ideas and designs and we can decide what is going on, I think BC-FLOW has taken the responsibility of looking for places to get them printed in the PNW

FYI, I'll get around to putting out the list in the next day or two. Been busy this week and had a minor condo emergency to take care of.

Thanks for all the work you're putting into this LeeLau. This sounds like it's going to be a great summit.

My birthday falls on one of the summit days, too.

Last time I was at the sports authority (formerly Garts) in Tacoma they still had some ticket books for $220.00

I can check this week and see if they have any more.

hey, for cat skiing. there are 2 of us who are totally interested.
We are already hooked for heli on 3/7, and i'm sure we'll have the heli hangover. But catskiing for list price on w/bc websites busts the bank a little.

if it helps add us to the list!
I just hope there isn't TOO much powder.

Thought I'd cross post this from the other thread.

I'll definetly tour Mags around inbounds and backcountry. Fri-Monday are the days I will be skiing both weekends.
So I'm stepping up. I personally always like bottom of Glacier chair on Blackcomb at 9 or 10.
Lightboard on Whistler at 9 or 10.
Whistler on Weekdays i.e. fri and mon.
    Blackcomb on weekends.
I'll have my pass back by then too. Whoppee!
White giro full face with red jacket and bros. I'll be waiting at said places at said times to show people the goods -this involves potential backcountry so bring your gear, potential scare yourself stupid lines, and potential hucks.
I'm happy to meet and ski with new people.
So there ya go Lee, I'm stepping up.
Same disclaimer as Lee. If there's powder days (which hopefully there are) this all changes.
See ya at the Maggot summit.
