Cleaning glue and other foreign debree off skins

Anyone know how to strip the glue from skins? Had a customer buy skins, cut them, remove the paper and then reapply the papper on the wrong side. Bits of the paper are now stuck to the glue. They will still stick to skis but... Now he says they are defective. We gave him a new pair but rather then just eat the cost, I would like to clean and put into rentals.

    Thanks.

You can but a brown paper bag ontop of the gle then iron the bag or you can hold a blow torch to a metal scrapper and scrap the glue off the skins.

I'm no linguist, but I think Lurch meant a metal scraper and scrape the glue off.

Next time I drop my skins in pine needles, I'll return them as defective . Sorry your customer is such a dipshit.

I am reminded of a high school english teacher I had who pronounced debris "deb riss". We were a bit surprised by that one.

Thanks Lurch. I remember now reading something about the ironing of the bag now from soom years ago. Perhaps the scraper method will have to be delt with as well. Anytime something can be fixed with fire, I'm in. Let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Yep, totally works. Use a scraper with this method too. Works like a charm.

T-P used to sell glue remover solvent... don't know if they still do or how well it works. But may be worth looking into of the brown paper deal doesn't do the trick.

So I used both methods. Heated a sheep of brown paper bag with the iron, then scraped with a metal scrapper. No problems and all this paper and glue came off. Applied some new glue and works great. Thanks a lot.
