    My God....

Kirkwood is reporting 24 - 30" fresh today. I hope Hardrider took along his snorkel....I bet it's gonna be light 'cause the snow levels were pretty damn low.

now I will resume banging my head against my desk, pulling at these shackles, and calling the garage to get their arses moving on my car.

Skidawg called to rub it in as I sat in Hell A traffic last night. I hope he's not being a stay-at-home-jerky and went up there today.

    Reports, guys

Well, if you want a ride, I've decided to drive up on Wednesday afternoon (tomorrow!). Since I have a honda, I'll have to stop and put on chains. I'm not planning on coming back until Sunday...anyway it's an offer!

    Ski!! Simply can't wait!!!!!

It was good. Not ultra good, but good nonetheless.

That was one of the shallowest 24 inches I've ever skied on though. Maybe 8 inches new from when I left yesterday afternoon. Just enough to make everything really fresh and new.

What Nater said. It was good but not ultra deep. Actually north shore had way more snow out of this. There was over 3 feet at my house (I should know, I shoveled it). One thing percular about today though, it really wasn't that crowded. Stuff staid untouched for a long time. There was a breif morning pow rush from 10 to the back side but I staid put and scored fresh in the area between Waterfall and the first gully in Wagonweel bowl. Then I went over to Palisades and got fresh for most of the rest of the day. Late in the day I went to backside and Vista was still pretty virgin so I scored that a couple of times. I think it was the blackout dates, lots of people but mostly gapers who didn't know the stashes.
PS: Brought out the big guns today, thats right the 201 DP's. Perfect conditions to not turn.

ummm, it was pretty damn good!

The wide open spaces were not that deep, probably cause of the wind, however, the trees were super deep, and the area around rocks/cliffs was super deep with wind deposited snow.

The coverage on the front of the mountain is incredible.

Saw two skiers and a boarder huck Big Jim's, prolly 70 feet. No speed, just pushed off the edge and free fell to the landing. Pretty cool. Definitely the biggest I have seen anyone go at Kirkwood.

shot 20 minutes of helmet cam, but yet again technical problems were encountered and i got no footage.

    Thumbs up

Yup, still december, hard to believe. 225" so far and 100" base.

People were going off today, even saw patrollers hucking in palisades.

The landings today were amazing. Even small less than 10 foot airs that i skied away from were leaving huge bomb holes. There was just so much deep soft wind deposited snow, would have been a great day to huck. There are some great lines in oops and oops extra right now. I saw skier666 in lift line, but a paucity of tracks in oops???

The spatulas were perfect for today, they really do like to go fast and make big turns. They do help stomp landings too (if you can call my little 5-10 footers hucking ). Surprisingly, I didn't like them for short turns. They were great in the crud and fine on the groomers/traverses/getting into lift line.

    I just found this! Unbelievable!

[antijinx]SNOW IS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE IN THE TAHOE BASIN WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND POSSIBLY BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES NEW YEARS EVE. ANOTHER TWO TO THREE FEET MAY FALL IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS ABOVE 7000 FEET WITH AS MUCH AS A FOOT AT LAKE LEVEL BY THE TIME SNOW TAPERS OFF LATE NEW YEARS DAY. IN ADDITION... STRONG WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO ACCOMPANY THIS STORM CREATING HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW [antijinx]

Whether this hits us big or not, this weekend, things are going to go off, I can feel it.

I gotta remember to get more gas for the snowblower, been out there 4 times in the last 48 hours.

wow, i thought kwood would be going off today. skied 2 laps in the gully bowl of waterhouse today and they were the deepest i've ever skied there. the 40+ degree stuff was over the head faceshots every turn but anything not steep was hardly turnable, even on 95 cm waist skiis. 1st run was so good i bailed on work to do another lap on the steeper skiers right of the bowl which was better then the 1st. we were a bit hesitant to go in there w/ the avy danger at high, but from our observations this snow seems to be pretty stable too as shit that always slides hasn't (yet) other then some real slow moving sloughs.

Avy patrol at kwood was setting slides off BIG. I saw at least one 3 foot crown in Thundersaddle and there was a lot of avy debris all over the wall, Wagonwheel bowl, Eagle bowl, and Thundersaddle.

how were things out towards the Palisades? I didn't head out that way today.

Glad to here you guys are getting great snow. After the winter you went through last year you deserve it.

I'm going to go sharpen my hockey skates for skiing tomorrow. Over a foot of snow was on my yard 2 days ago. Now only 3", with no significant snow forecasted for 10 days. And the temps aren't cold enough to make snow.

Pretty sure. thought i saw a couple bombholes from chair 6, and i did see some people milling about up top. the way people were going off, the coverage and amount of wind deposited snow... I find it hard to believe someone didn't do it.

I bought it at helmetcam.com, not sure of the company, but i think most of the actual cameras are sony. the cables are definitely an issue though. i think this may have been power problem.

    they are definitely tempermental though.

I think it was New Years Eve, but regardless, the real question is why am I working instead of skiing?
