Canyons beta needed

I'll be hitting the Canyons the last week of March (a company ski trip) and was interested in learning any local info from any maggots. I have never skied the Canyons and was hoping to get some info on where to go, what chairs to ski, etc.

I'll be hitting the Bird/Alta for a few days before the trip also and would love to meet up with any folks.

I'll be in Utah from March 24th - April 2nd - hitting the Bird/Alta from March 24th - 27th and then the Canyons from the 28th - 2nd.

The Canyons is very cool, but you need to know what and where to ski. Also, it closes for the season fairly early, and late season snow may be questionable, especially at the bottom. Most of your day should be spent on Tombstone (Grande, Deschutes and off Cloud 9), 9990 (to the skiers' left or a great mogul field to the right) and Super Condor Peaks. Also, the powder on Peak 5 (Majestic Pines and The Abyss) holds really well when other things are skied out.

I second SP's comments. Late March can be a challenge with the lower elevation and generally lower snowfall throughout the year. If it's true Spring conditions at that point (i.e. no pow) I suggest Condor due to less people, longest runs on the mountain and most aspect options. The Southside chutes/runs are good early in the morning (assuming they still have snow) and you can move to the North as it gets warmer. I tend to make more trips to LCC/BCC this time of year to take advantage of the storms they still get to the bottom of the mountain vs. the PC rain/snow events. Of course, there are exceptions and you can have epics days this late in the season.
