    1/28-29 W/B TR Wow!!

It is 11:30 Sunday evening, I'm on powder11's puter, and watching it nuke outside, already 8 inches on his hottub cover since we last used it at 8 pm!! Holee molee, it's a gonna be epic on the hill tomorrow!!!

Here's pics from today. We started out on Chainsaw Ridge...Atrain and Samwich provided the thrill of the day by trying to drop skier's right of 5-0, which was way boney. From below, powder11 was watching as Eroc Peyota stopped by to watch. He commented that it was too low snow cover to be in there, then yelled up to the guys to straight run it. Atrain did just that, after gingerly picking his way down into the choke as best he could, then dropped into the chute--onto ice!! He got through the chute, only to explode on the runout, huge spray flying as he tumbled toward Richard who moved back a bit to avoid being tagged. Samwich yelled down to ask how it was, and in retorted, "It's ice!!" But Sam's ears heard "It's nice!?!" Sam, puckered up tighter than a weeklong constipated colon, gingerly tiptoed down the chute, while a couple of us skied down, to lap back around to pick up any body parts....Postman and Atrain stayed to witness Samwich straightline the chute and all the way to the Jersey Cream flats, hitting close to 100km/h? He was later heard to croak, "I'm sure glad I took a healthy dump this morning!!" I'll let Sam tell his version later!

Then we traipsed up Spanky's ladder to an epic line in Sapphire Bowl.

After that sweetness, the herd thinned, and Atrain, Samwich and postman graciously led me to Disease Ridge, which turned out to be an awesome adventure and surely the best run ever at W/B for me!!

    Powder11 rips

Atrain about to air the rocks...I had accidentally switched off the sequence shooting on this toy camera(all I have till my $7000 worth that was stolen this week gets replaced

New lurking maggot Tim sends it

Atop BC glacier, about to reach Disease Ridge

    Damn, what a face!

    Yummm!!

    Atrain smokes the face first...

followed by Samwich, providing a powder filling

And the postman delivers the goods

bigtrub adubdub...I've heard good things about Mt. Cain...sure is way up island a long ways though, eh?

We were all looking over our shoulders yesterday, wondering if and when we were gonna be stalked by ya.....

It has quit snowing here in the Valley, but there's easily 9 inches of new, which could equate to 15-20 on the hill...yummmm!! We're all thinking of going for Fresh Tracks Breaky this morning.
Edit, morning report's up, it says 40 cm of new, and minus 5 in the alpine. It is still -1 in the valley, looks like we dodged the worst of the warm front, which appears to have hammered XTal with another 3.5 inches of water content, some of it in the form of rain. What a shame!

Be careful out there today, avy danger is bound to be mighty high everywhere!

sorry i missed you guys/ I was powder pigging over on the musical bumps. Did the pow111 thing and dropped into excitation with flat light - so much snow!! Such a treat to ride that pig with good coverage. I had to use an old trick and drop a spare cordelette onto the surface to give myself a landing spot. What a rush!! Highway was a mess last night. Will be up again wed onwards

Today looks like it'll be insane. Sat was already deeep.... VD chutes and West Cirque into West Bowl were amazing. Nice work on Disease Ridge. Haven't been there this year yet. Looks good. Ran into Atrain in a super rowdy peak chair lineup. Thanks for letting me fondle the Bro's man.

Actually, I was wondering when you all would be stalking me, duh.

Cain was EPIC, got just as much snow as you guys, but I only had to share it with 200 other people! We almost died a few times on the drive home, it took 8.5 instead of 5.5 hrs to drive home. TR on the way...

    ya dont say?

posting shots from OB ( i gather from your story- i dont have a clue where you took those) online and telling everyone that you ducked permanently closed ropes.

    what did you expect.

at least you got the TGR TR glory....

the line in question has only recently been shut down by patrol due to someone dying on a similar type entrance. W/B patrol have been super lax in the past about skiing closures. basicaly the policy was dont screw up and you'll find no trouble. after a couple deaths this year, patrol is tightening up their closure policy. thats pretty much the point of the post. no need to be a douche when you have no clue what your talking about.

they were busted way before any calling out on this forum. the point of the call out is to inform other W/B skiers that patrol is no longer letting closures get skied without consequence. I skied a closure right in front of patrol last season and his response was "nice turns" thats no longer the case.

yeah it was a really stupid move on our part

    busy weekend and sunshine.

ski patrol basically said they were forced to because there were so many people however had it been a weekday there is a 90 percent chance that nothing would of been done.

anyway i guess i have to learn from my mistakes the hard way this time

Shit. Didn't know that was you with Atrain. Should have introduced myself. I was laughing my ass off when the group of ski schoolers were forced from cutting in line by the relentless barrage of snowballs...Was thinkin' about dropping Whistler bowl myself, but after standing in that line for over an hour, wanted a longer run. First tracks into West Cirque and West Bowl were crazy. Haven't been first man into West Bowl in a long time....
