Sharp skin deep pain

OK, so what do these internet doctors have to say about this one: whenever my left knee has weight on it, like crawling or a particular pressure, it feels like there's glass or metal digging into the skin. It's only on the surface and really acute.

I can't see any abrasion like I've got a sliver or shards of glass, but it sure feels like it.

What're the hypotheses?

tough one Buster..... I'll have to think hard on this one.

I could go with the standard 10th grade humor line about ummm... getting off your knees perhaps?

or I could give some actual possibilities.

there is a bursa right under that spot as well.... inflammed bursa

patellar tendon attaches there: tendonitis possibly

cutaneous nerve irritation... that one is a long shot

been running alot lately?

Not running much, but with a 2 year old and a 4 year old, the knees have seen more floor contact lately than....ever.

But it just feels like I've got ground glass in there..really weird and really painful. Electric hot knife barbed wire ouchness.

I have no idea what it could be.

could just be a plain old bruise even though you might not see the discoloration or possibly the inflammed bursa.

Other than telling you to wear a knee pad or something equally ridiculous i wuld only say try to avoid kneeling on it as much as possilble, even though I know with 2 little ones that is not really a viable option.

Have you been kneeling bare-kneed? I had the same sensation in my finger and just dug a small piece of glass out of my fingertip.

I'm not sure, I think I've had something similar before but it doesn't seem to be bothering me anymore. At the time I thought it was either a nerve I was pinching or a bone fragment under the skin.
