    Bro Review

i have: 188 stiff ass stiff blems from this year.

1st: mount them where splat says. the man knows.

    2nd: wax 4+ times before use and prep edges (1/1 & ~5" detune tip/ ~4" detune tail)

3rd: WTF is up with all of that camber? no0t noticable skiing, but holy shit...

i like them alot. great everyday ski for me.

quick edge to edge for broken snow & bumped out.
they def. hold an edge on groomers... haul ass GS turns, though a bit soft for my tastes. i'd get supers for sure if i was to buy another pair.
i like the little turn up on the tail for billygoating.
i thought they's be too short for me, but they good length-wise. kinda nice being on a bit lighter/ shorter ski for once...

splat- make that ski +15mm w/ the same shape/profile, and it'd rule. sign me up for a pair of supers right now...

    ..

I have asked that question and not gotten an answer.
Its more than last year, for sure, but why?
Creates great edge hold and tip pressure on hardpack and ice.
But Bro is more of a pow ski, which these days means no camber.

I have felt it, usuallly on transitions or when riding the skis flat.

I have yet to ski the new Bros in deep pow, where the camber may inhibit tip flex and float.

One nice side effect for BC touring could be less drag when skinning - eg, when you slide the ski forward, only tips and tails will be dragging.
Not sure if that is outweighed by the high camber when going downhill.

Oh, and yeah, Super Stiffs are not too uber stiff. they are juuust right.

I know someone that has the blems and compared to my non blems, they have at least twice as much camber. He complains that the tips dive and I skied them and completely agree. Mine have .8" of camber and his are in the 2" neighborhood. Something is not right.

Probably not, but I don't ski my Bros very often simply because I have Spatulas.

I've actually witnessed Marshal eat a small child because the dairy king was closed after a long tour. He is a large man.

I rode SkiingBear's pair of Bro stiffs, for one run at the Ghee, and loved 'em. Fast and blew thru stuff rock solid. However, I too noticed a tendancy for the tips to dive. It seemed to happen when going from broken crud to untracked. Once I got the tips back up (which didn't take much)they stayed up.

My feeling initially was that the tip could be a little more turned up. Now I see that camber might b a factor and the bindings might have been mounted a little too far forward?

SB, how are those Bro's treating you after more than a day and a half on 'em?

Hey guys, thanks for the input. The guys got the camber a bit high on that last batch. It will drop on the batch about to be pressed. But also, due to it's nature as a wood/glass ski, it will settle down with some mileage and get better in that regard. I will also raise the tips a bit higher (from 53 mm to to like 56 or 58 mm) to enhance that float.
I'd make them wider for you, marshall, but that's a whole new project.

Is this going to be in the Jan 20 batch of Bros or in the future?

i had a pair of tankers. love'd 'em.

i'd put the bros in the same category, totally kick ass every day ski, but only 3 days on the bros. i'll report back

FWIW: (after only 3 days on bros)
skis i'd rather be on than the bros:
    ffl's
    tankers

i'd rather be on bros than:
    XXX
    186 LP
    explosiv
    seth's
    monsters

    Thumbs up

I'm impressed that you can make such a wide comparison, marshall. Well done.
I'm also impressed that you already have those things up and running.
    Great take-charge altitude, dood.

That's cheating. All must go down the hatch inside. With skiboots still on. Schral could do it.
    Drive slow, homie.
