    stuck screw?

Tried to remount some Fritschi's w/o front plare and one screw won't budge. I am using the pozi and dewalt drill. The screwhead is starting to get stripped.

Can I just drill the screw out & replace it?

I read you can heat, it but I think the base of the freerides are plastic. Don't think it was epoxied as none of the others were.

    Take it out by hand...

sometimes drills just have too much speed and strip before grip...

use a hand Pozi and put all your weight on it

Phishshow is right but if backing it out by hand does not work you can pick up a set of these.

Have a big soldering iron? Like one of these:

Try heating the screw head up with the soldering gun, being mindful of the plastic. When it's good and hot, crank on that screw with a hand pozidriver.

I've used similar things to Lurch's link to remove screws from hardwood timber. Those fuckers will remove any screw. You just drill a skinny pilot hole then crank the removal tool in there and out it comes.

do a search. i would recommend putting a small bit into your drill backwards and warming it up a bit then hand cranking a posi.

I have also had luck heating the posi with a blow torch til it is pretty hot then holding it against the screw to back it out.

but that was back in the day when i used to think it was a good idea to use two stage epoxy instead of wood glue for sealing screws.

Heat generally works well. You could also put your Pozi in the screw head, and give the handle a couple of sharp hits with a hammer.

Impact driver with the Posi bit works even with partially stripped heads.
