I've had a shit-eating grin all day because today was NIPPTASTIC!

I think I saw you and the missus in the crowded-ass Germ line today while the chair was stopped, comish. Were you sporting a silver giro w/ WY-22 sticker on the back? If so, I'll holler next time.

It was a fuckin' zoo today but not hard to find freshies at all & gaper slalom was kinda fun.

That sounds normal, especially in these conditions, unfortunately. I can imagine your knee's got to be feeling it. Both my knees are fairly sore today - patellar tendons hurt from trying to yank big stix out from under drifts and stuff. Sorry to hear you're not out there today, but it's still snowing! (just checked the webcam). Hopefully you'll be feeling better and enjoy it more tomorrow!

THAT should be absolutely unreal, but I honestly don't know what's next beyond the deepness already had today - Skiing totally submerged?

Building the snow cave in the back yard today. Holy crap there is a lot of snow in the valley. See you guys tomm. early am. I hope they kept ballroom and the shoulder closed all day. It should be incredible.

    13,
I hope you saved some freshies for me!

DantheMan went REALLY FUCKING HUGE today. TWICE. I'm not talking 40 or 50 ft. I'm talking 70 to 80 feet. He launched from the very top of Bad News above the chute and landed below the last rocks. The second time, his skis stayed on and he skied away. SICK. MD9 - I'm sure you would have loved to hit it today. I was even thinking about it, but...

I lost a ski the previous run after dropping a 15-20 footer. I looked for awhile, but that ski was such a piece of garbage, with practically no edges left. This was the capper to my rollercoaster day. It all started...

DantheMan called at 7 AM. I gave him a ride up the canyon. Xover and Travis were nice enough to save us spots in the front row. 8" overnight? Yeah right, try 12" at least. First lap I hit High Boy, and it was sweet. Many many faceshots and no tracks in front of me. Then I hit a few West Ruslter laps which were just as good - fresh and deep. Backside opened, so I mached down through Beta and basically pointed it to the bottom. I should have turned more, but I didn't feel like it. With all this snow we've been getting, some cool lines have filled in. So, I headed over to...

Glory Hole, to straightline the Dogleg. It's about a 5 foot drop into a very steep straightline with a slight righthand turn before opening up into Glory Hole. I knocked off some of the cornice. I dropped in and...

so did the rest of the cornice. OH SHIT! Two big chunks of snow followed me into the chute and I started tumbling. This cornice kicked of a small avalanche. I was buried for a few seconds before coming up. I did my best to swim on top until the ride stopped. It felt like swimming in the ocean with a wave crashing on your back. Luckily, I wasn't buried. But I'm sure I could have been. I made a big mistake, but I was lucky to avoid any consequences. Lesson learned.

I recovered my skis and took a few more runs before meeting up with the crew. We hit the Shoulder just as it was opening and got some more freshies. On the next lap, I dropped that stupid cliff and lost my ski. What a rollercoaster of a day - great pow, a big scare, relief that everything is OK, more pow, then a lost ski, then Dan throwing down two moster hucks. I'm spent.

Wow...I just got off the phone with Brad (not on the board, but you all know him) and he was telling me about Dan dropping that cliff at Bad News...sounds amazing.

If one more person calls or emails me about today........................

After the past two days, I'm thinking exactly the same.

My back is hurtin' bad but after Mrs. Powstash called to tell me just how sick it was I bailed from work for the last 45 min before the lifts closed. I'm sure the lifty was like, "Why even bother" but I knew why. After my first line in a secret tree shot it was all worth it. Waist deep just standing there, over the head every turn...and I'm friggin' 6'4"!!!! Did that line twice, only about 5 tracks in said trees. I love skiing wide open aspens.

    Friday, Alta - I'm there.

Wow, Great day. After an early morning drop off at the mouth of canyon so I could steal my friends car while he dropped bombs, we returned to wait in the line for the canyon to open. It seemed to open around 8:30-8:40.

Ballroom did open and was silly deep. Everything was reeeallly deep. A really great day was had. Having been here a bunch, but I don't know all the names, just general vecinities. Did a few w. rustler laps, then got the backside after it opened. That was great. Eventually out into the ballroom. The traverse was like an ant farm w/ too many people, but the snow was amazing.

Great day and it sounds like plenty more to come in the next week.

Hope your knee gets better AC.

I have a black Giro w/ a little JH sticker on the back. Rolling the old edgeless Cut 11's for moment until I come on something better. Didn't need that missing edge today, just a bit slow if glide was ever needed.
