    Wellgo Wam-M3 Pedal?

I haven't used clipless pedals in years, and the last and only set I had were SPD's.

I found a good combo deal on some Wellgo Wam-M3 Pedals and shoes, but haven't heard much about them before.

    Any good? Stay away?

    Just curious...

    Thanks!

(the set is under $50. I'm trying to save some $$$ here)

-recreational riding, commuting, local trails. I'm not competitive.

These would be going on my '99 Marin Nail Trail.

I have the Sette Element shoes (different from the one in your photo). They are identical to an Answer shoe, with different graphics. I like them.

I might have some Wellgo M3 pedals, not sure. I have several sets of the old Wellgo/ Ritchey pedals, and they've held up fine. I don't ride in much mud though -- so if you do, I'd pick different pedals (Times or Speedplays) -- these tend to pack up with mud.

For 50 bones you can't really go wrong. I rode w/ a guy that swore by Wellgo pedals, and he never had any problems. Ride 'em 'til they break or until you can afford an upgrade.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

In other words, these probably won't go Marker on me?

I'm starting to get confused. I'm looking at all these different brands and set-ups, etc. I don'r know what is good and what would be good for me. I don't ride that hard; just recreationally. I'm a bit of a heavier dude (210lbs).

I was scanning Pricepoint and/or Jenson for a good combo deal becasue I don't want to spend that much.

I am not a huge fan of Wellgo. Yet, for the price, that is not a bad deal. And considering you are looking for a setup for some rec. and light riding, you should hit that deal up.

The review on MTBR sounds about right if you get into some heavier and more abusive riding. I had a friend that rode on wellgos and they did go marker on him, but keep in mind we were blazing through lots of mud and plenty of hills.

if you want something nicer in a pedal, go used. MTBR.com under the classifieds...

hope you find what you want!

Yeah, I guess in all reality if I use these pedals and they crap out at the end of the summer, I'm only out about $25. I just hope they don't crap out on like the 2nd ride. I'm not going to buy quite yet, still looking around a little....

I have ridden wellgo pedals - and broke them in less than a season. Even though they are cheap, I would not recommend them - especially if you are pushing 2 bills in weight; even for recreational riding. I have heard good things about the Sette shoes.

Keep an eye on Qbike...they update all the major online retailer pricing regularly.
