TGR Forums - Time Management Techniques

I have a problem. I spend too much time on the TGR forums while I am at work. I should be managing a development team and instead I am reading the trip reports and funny banter.

I am hoping that the experienced maggots can help me with some sort of 12 step program which will allow me to better utilize my TGR forum time or reduce it at work. I already tried having our sys admin block the site completely but I had him re-enable it because of withdrawals.

I am asking you to post your techniques for staying away while at work or at least reducing the hours spent pouring over the great threads.

if there's a 12 step program, sign me up. Actually, could I get the 2 step program?

I turn off my monitor occasionally, just to add a step. If I have something to read, I'll go to a conference room to read it because I know that I'll get bored and refresh "new posts" and wind up reading about someone's broken look binding in tech talk

I'm actually using TGR as part of a 12 step plan to avoid work.
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.

    I'd like to know too...

The only reason I'm still here today (it is after 5:00), is that I've spent too much time reading TGR and haven't prepared for tomorrow's 8:00 meeting yet. And what am I doing now? Reading TGR. I think if the site's IP was banned I'd be checking it on my web-enabled cell phone, though, so I don't think that would work.

You could try weaning yourself of ski related chat slowly by switching over to newschoolers or epic. Do this at your own risk as this may cause extreme anger.

Death is the only thing that rip you away from TGR. You are a part of the cult now and there is no way out!

I'm glad there are fellow TGR addicts whom I can sympathize with. Not sure I'm ready to develop or engage in a 12-step program. I'm still a JONG and I am enjoying every moment on TGR It's most surely been cutting into my sleep time

Mattitude - I hear you. During the season there is really nothing you can do just accept it and hope for the best. I really thought I would have been fired by now if they checked the amount of time I was online. The nice thing is I am the one with access and pulls those reports. I just leave myself off the list.

You could only check TGR at home but what fun is that when you are using your own time and not the firms.

It's the new crack baby. The CIA is responsible, TGR is simply one of many front organizations.

I resolve PC issues remotely. Need to get rid of all that pr0n you downloaded on your work laptop? Or did you just get a ton of viruses from searching for "geriatic midget sex"? Either way I can fix them. PM Me for maggot prices.

Yeah, but my slacking doesn't influence the lives of America's youth. Save the Children!

No, your slacking just involves building things. Buildings may fall down because of your lack of work ethic.

I recently read an article that concluded that 90% of the time spent on the internet is recreational rather than required. Think about it. Does it seem that far from the truth?

And I read somewhere that sex is 90% recreational rather than creational. Your milage may vary.

Truth is far from skiing, if that helps?

Do you realize that you've just posted an admission of ignorance so breathtaking that it disqualifies you from commenting on any political or economic threads from here on out?

As far as I know, 100% of my sex has been recreational.

Pipe down! I need the people of TGR to understand something….. It’s Friday and I’m in a very obnoxious and sarcastic mood. My poor students are only in high school and have a very sensitive sense of self esteem and can therefore only handle my humiliating sarcasm to a minimal extent. I need TGR to fulfill my need to exhibit my very wacky dry sense of humor. It's an addiction! So humor me
