Glad to see you guys putting this stuff up. That huck is unreal big. That floating backwards and not being able to do anything about it is freaky. I really need to get up there to play. Props as always to GT for taking the time and effort to take the pictures.

It was weird. I was able to keep my back where I wanted it, but my feet kept going up over my head (like I was folding up). I actually wanted them lower than my back. Crazy. Also, notice the distance between the last frames, by that time I was picking up speed fast. I figure 15 frames at 5 frames a second means I had about 3 seconds of hangtime.

Here's the more profile style shot of the area with guides (for village idiot) :

I like this one too. MD9, where is this? I've seen this line a few times on the board and am wondering where it is. May be obvious, but I'm still a 'basin jong.

That sequence photo goes to show you why photos are so much better than video!!

Great pics, I like the one with the big turns in the chute best.

We'll have to show you in person. It never gets hit and is super easy access. There are 3 or 4 short lines along this wall (on each side).

flyk and myself will be out tomorrow if you'll be around. We're always happy to have others along. I'm guessing I'll be working this weekend though. Although the "working" is at Sundance and my liver is probably going to be doing most of the heavy lifting.

I don't have any experience hucking, but it seems like keeping things together on big drops is really hard. Once a skier has dropped far enough that they're traveling mostly straight down, I think an upright position would be aerodynamically unstable (center of pressure in front of center of mass) since the surface area of the skis is going to create a lot of air drag. This means that the skis would tend to rotate the skier into an upside-down position. If the skier stays directly on top of the skis, they may be able to keep them there, though it'll require perfect execution and/or a lot of small corrections (maybe this is what rolling up the windows does?). Once the skier is a little off center and is traveling fast enough, the force on the skis will cause a rotation. With a backseat bias for landing and the bindings mounted rear of center, I would expect the skis to tend to come up in front of the skier on large drops.

In this case it looks like you may have come off the lip with a slight roll to your left, which resulted in the skis coming up on your right side and in front of you. It looks like your rate of rotation increased throughout the trajectory as your airspeed increased and your skis got out from underneath you.

These photos are amazing, and I can't begin to imagine what it must take to execute a huck like that. I have huge respect for you and others who do things like this.

I love the picture of you in Crinkle, but that last sequence shot is amazing. It reminds me of physics problems set for us at school when you would have to work out the trajectory, velocity and acceleration of the falling object. You weren't falling, you were bloody flying for a moment there!
Monty Python's version of the cougar phenomenon:
"This is a frightened city. Over these houses, over these streets hangs a pall of fear. Fear of a new kind of violence which is terrorizing the city. Yes, gangs of old ladies attacking defenseless, fit young men".

I'm sorry the snow and light were so terrible. Holy crap I didn't know which way was up or down and the snow was not forgiving. Hopefully you can come up on a better day. I really felt bad about recommending 'Basin that day.
