I take it the ice storm landed down there as well.
I was kinda puzzled today how it could be raining, yet freeze the instant it hit - anything, including my glasses.

It's 50 here Pat. We got ice last night, but today was a fucking monsoon. Seeing the late day rainbow was like a nail in the coffin.

We got baby-bottoms smooth ice last night, then piles of water on top of that here in Ontario. There's a very slight valley between here and the main road, we're talking a grade you can barely even see. Car got stuck there. Couldn't go up to the main road, couldn't get back to the house. Didn't have my skates, had to walk.

    Fun stuff.

I've got the no snow on the EC blues.

30 days in this season and none close to home. I hoped to get some this weekend, but looks like it's not worth the trip.

It's getting difficult to stay positive here...It's looking like my kid's first ski race they've been training hard for might be cancelled due to conditions (or lack thereof). Yeah, this officially sucks ass.

I used to feel that way too when I was first learning how to ski. It's a tad bit harder to psych yourself up when it's 45 degrees and POURING RAIN!!!
Now let us bitch and take your happy go lucky ass somewhere else

You pussys should stop your fucking complaining, you're giving east coast skiers a bad name.
I grew up there too, except our hill was ony 750'.
just about as soon as i was able i hit the road for SLC. Landed in Bozeman about 10 yrs ago.
but you are right, HS, I cant really say i have more fun now than i did then.

Awwww fuck. Looks like I gotta turn my wings into Commander Core. I'm not looking forward to skiing 5 intermediate trails in the rain. I guess I'm just not cut out for this gig.

It's the east coast. We get rain, it gets icy, conditions suck sometimes. You can either complain and stay home, or you can grab your sharp skis and go out and entertain yourself, and make yourself a better skier in the process. There's more to skiing than powder. That's part of why I ski Killington - when conditions suck everywhere, they are probably going to suck less at Killington. There will be a good park this weekend. There will be good bump skiing, probably on fresh machine made snow. There will be nicely groomed out hardpack, without that many people on it. And of course there will be ultra sketch ice knar to test your mettle.
I think you misunderstood me. I like all conditions. I don't mind the weather. I expect this in January in New England. You just come across as smug, even self-righteous. It's just grating to me I guess.
On a side note: I like commute work at least a day a week on snow. Now I can't because my skis don't glide well on dirt. I must not be "core" enough.
Good for you. You a super skier. That's fine. Just don't consider it reason to condescend in the manner you do. Just my two cents.

    I beg to differ...

I think the referee is needed for an official call on this one.

I am not core. I am spoiled little pussy that only likes to ski powder. I can't believe I even call myself a skier. I guess it's time to move back to PA to ski 580 vertical feet of ice for two months a year. At least I'll be core again!

In all seriousness, I see both sides of this issue:

My condolences to the East Coast on your lousy winter. When conditions suck that bad, it's OK to bitch and moan a bit to get it off your chest.

Highway Star has a point, though. It is the East Coast, and EC skiing involves rain and ice. If it's killing you that bad, and skiing powder is that important to you, you should move. To Colorado. Or Tahoe.
