    Paging Seattle-ites

Likely downtown Fri AM for work.
About to buy ticket. Because I also may have to end up in LA at 8:00am Monday, I could potentially stay through part of the weekend.
    Questions:

Leave Friday PM, Sunday AM, or Sunday PM (ie, go home, ski Sat, or ski Sat and Sun)? What conditions are expected? Epic, not bad, not good, or downright slimy? I have limited funds and time - if it's not worth it, I'm better off coming back to CO friday night to ski for minimal cost in pretty decent snow over the weekend before jumping another plane to LA. If strong to quite strong expected, can I just bring inbounds gear? Or would I have to have b/c with me to get some of the goods?

And if yes, who is going to adopt me for some part of the weekend? And by adopt, I don't mean "let crash on your floor." I mean, "I'll be in downtown, in business clothes, checked out of my hotel at noon/1:00p friday, with a ski bag, no car, and nowhere to stay, and no way to get to and from the mountain and airport." Adopt.

Thoughts? Looking at weather and plane tickets now...

Eggnog. If not eggnog, SeaTac by 5:00 pm.

    In particular:
EXTENDED FORECAST FOR THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.
Light to occasionally moderate showers decreasing Thursday
morning with partial clearing. Increasing clouds and light snow
developing Olympics Thursday night. Light to moderate snow
increasing north and central Cascades and Olympics Friday with
increasing light snow at times south. Slow warming trend with
light to moderate snow decreasing and becoming showery Saturday.
Warming with increasing light to moderate rain or snow late
    Saturday.

    SNOW LEVELS
    500-1500 ft N, 1500-2500 ft S Thursday
    500-1500 ft N, 1500-3000 ft S Friday
    1-2000 ft N, 2-4000 ft S early Saturday
    2-4000 ft N, 4-6000 ft S later Saturday.

Crystal base is Central Cascades at 4500.

Looks like a bit o' new before the freezing levels go up Saturday night. By Sunday, Alpental may be wet.

I have limited funds and time - if it's not worth it, I'm better off coming back to CO friday night to ski for minimal cost in pretty decent snow over the weekend before jumping another plane to LA. If good, can I just bring inbounds gear?
    Yes.
Or would I have to have b/c with me to get some of the goods?
Not required, but it would open up some interesting possibilities for Sunday.

And if good enough, who is going to adopt for some part of the weekend?
(I'll try the other tact) You absolutely cannot stay at our house. I absolutely refuse to pick you up or feed you or give you wine or beer or scotch or a decent bed or a ride to the hill.

(But I could only not take you skiing 1 day...)
And by adopt, I don't mean let crash on your floor. I mean, I'll be in downtown, in business clothes, checked out of my hotel at noon/1:00p friday, with a ski bag, no car, and nowhere to stay, and no way to get to and from the mountain and airport. Adopt.

The coverage is awesome. There's goods to be had. Look like there will be a bit of fresh available and if it doesn't snow, the bc is always there.

Interesting. For simplicity+quality+quantity, maybe an inbounds Xtal day for Sat, with a Sun AM flight to LA for a long overdue visit to a college pal. A good day at Xtal wouldn't suck, I've never been there for a pow day...

    Hmm...

Did I give you a ride from Kirkwood to Oakland?

Anyway, I’m skiing Saturday. I assume alpine gear will work for any PNW adventure, but your might want to bring a pack, or at least a beacon for lift served BC. (I assume someone can lend you a shovel and probe.)

Ru-oh. Cletus is coming to town. Hide the moonshine and your cousins.

I think you should definitely sample the PNW's goods this weekend. Mostly because I will be too.

Post your details. Will you ski if it isn’t powder?

GC, yep, that was me. Or wait, was that a rhetorical?
KQ, hey, wouldn't have happened if we'd stayed in bed...er...j/k
Arty, what's your deal? Where you gonna be?
Busta, thanks for the (non)offer, I'm digesting.

I'm on the fence. Good opportunity for mostly business paid trip, but my back is fucked up and killing me, and I don't really want the hassle of bringing b/c gear, yet the consensus seems to be that I'll be missing out if I don't, and so on and so forth.

We'll see, I'll letchas know if I'm going to be around. Gotta decide shortly.

I've got extra skis w/DIIs and skins (200 cm Snowrangers or 186 Asteroids), extra shovels. Just bring a pack and beacon.

Your back is bothering you because of stress. Go stretch, breathe deep and try to relax. Plus fence sitting is back for backs and rectums.

I don't have a yeast infection like Punani..."I will only go skiing if there's 100' of blower."

As long as it snows a little bit, I'm there. If the weather doesn't pan out at all, I may reconsider. Still, it would be cool to get out of town and ski somewhere new.

As for details, I'm placing myself in Squirrel's capable hands. The only thing I know right now is that I'm going skiing.

I'll be sure to bring my heavy BC setup too. Gotamas, trekkers, skins, beacon, shovel, probe, etc.

So a young bull is standing on a hilltop with an old bull, looking down on a field where many a hot heifer stands a-grazin.' And with the enthusiasm befitting his age, he looks over to the old bull and says, "Hey, I've got an idea! Let's run down the hill and fuck one of those cows down there." The old bull grins, nods, and with a twinkle in his eyes, calmly replies back, "Hey, I've got an idea too. Let's walk down the hill and fuck them all."

Fortunately, some perspective comes with age and back issues. In this case, the wisdom to pick your battles. I'm bagging this impetuous Jan hill-dash for a better chance at a leasurely Feb-field stroll. I'll get out from under the work I've been dodging for a while now, rest up, and then come and fuck all the cows in Feb.

Thanks for all the offers though, you all really do rule.

    choices, choices!

Cletus, pull the trigger and stay around for a while, won't cha? Arty- Saturday has the markings of a good day- probably not huge snowfall, maybe up to 12" or so, but it should be light with low freezing levels. Recent forecasts indicate a shift of moisture to the north/central Cascades.

I'm leaning more towards Alpental for Saturday (as opposed to Xtal based on the storm projection coming in from the NW) and then maybe a day touring at either Stevens or Baker for Sunday. Tempted to check out The Burn or The Arm this weekend.

All depends on where the snow falls & how much. I'll keep the options open.
Not ruling out Xtal either- just speculating on the forecast. Let's see what the snow does on Friday and make a decision from there.

If 12" is 4X the radness of Jackson's 3" on Saturday, I'd give a nut to be there. I will make it to the PNW this year however.

The 22nd just happens to be WC's birthday, so we might get him drink a beer or two. I'll be up there by then.

Oh no you don't. My stealth mission has now been outted. As a result, the penalties will be severe: we're kidnapping you, taking you skiing, and getting you drunk as all hell.

Bwa! Naw, chances are slim to none. I'm working on heat and stretching, we'll see if this thing loosens tonight/tomorrow. If it feels better in the AM, MAYBE I'll look and see if flights are still defensible for my client to be paying to get me there. If I come at all, I guess I will bring at least avie gear if not touring boards.

But chances are slim, I'd rather come back and stay for a week in Feb or something if I had to pick between the two.

I was having some serious back spasms last week - sooooo painful! Managed to keep it under control with Tylenol/Aspirin and a heating pad. Hope you can find some relief and your way back here soon!

Exact same thing for me the week after Christmas. Even lying still I was getting the spasms. Oh, the joys of getting old! Back problems suck, that's for damn sure.
