    Frostbite on my face?

uhhh, so I have some weird ass red patches on my cheeks and tip of nose (exposed areas) from being towed behind the sled today....

I have never had frostbite before, and Im pretty sure this is minor since I have feeling and such. But is there anything I should do to it? Will it just go away?

all stuff online just says put warm water on it....which i dont see how that would do anything, but is there anything else?

bottom line, i just dont want these weird patches on my face when the semester starts in 2 days...

They'll probably be scabbed up patches of skin peeling off of your face instead of red patches in a few days.

I'm not aware of much you can do after the fact. Using some vaseline based stick type sunblock helps prevent it in the future.

I had the same thing happen to me at Kirkwood on Saturday. My chin got all red from the high winds. Don't think I'll be shaving for a few days. In the meantime, the Banana Boat green aloe gel should do the trick.

During exposure to the cold, red is good, white is bad.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Agreed. But if you still have weird red patches by the time you got home and are posting on the board, I'd think that's going to peel. It's nothing serious, other than being more careful in the future because it reoccurs more easily.

its probably not frostbite if its red. white is usually the sign of onset of frostbite. probably just windburn or something like that. ive gotten frostbite on my lower jaw and right up at the bootom of my goggles on my cheeks a couple times and its not that bad and i didnt really treat it with anything, only thing is that now the hair is kind of thin and splotchy in the area i got frostbite on my jaw.

My guess is that you were bitten by a brown recluse spider. Your face will begin to quickly disolve and peel off. Then the robots will come and eat it. Hope that helps.

been there, had much worse... on the plus side i met my frostbite buddy nhtele.

here is what the docs told me:
don't reinjure it! if you get it really cold in the next few days thats when you're really fucked (it turns ashen white then black and then well you just lose the skin and surrounding tissue)

warm water is good it can help to get rid of dead skin tissue and facilitate circulation

if its really bad you can get a prescription for vaso-diolators more blood to the area = more healing power. they even had me stop drinking coffee and eating chocolate (both are vaso-restrictors) that along with the no skiing was pretty rough for the winter.

i ate a lot of red meat and claim that helped.

my advice to you, stop complaining it doesn't sound too bad and you were probably getting sweet turns at the time. make up a better story for how it happened since you will have to explain the different colored skin post scab for the next few weeks.

You're probably going to die. Can I have your Spats?

Just kidding, you are probly fine. Last weekend, I had a red spot on my chin after I was done skiing. I think it was just windburn. It was fine the next day.

Oh, I haven't forgot about the case of beer I still owe you. Let's go ski sometime and I'll bring you a case.
