Pittsburg Stealers?

The new Invesco Field is nice, but it lacks history (which in my opinion can be almost as much of a factor as the fans themselves...Lambeau in the playoffs is unreal). Anyone want to prove me wrong that Lambeau has the best post-season record (I'm including the pre-NFL days too, I'm talking in the history of the stadium).
That said, my money is on the Broncos to go all the way (and checking around...the folks in Vegas agree)

Everyone had their money on the Colts today and look what happened.
I would wager that Soldier Field no longer holds the same esteemed home field advantage it once used to. I think back in the days, they had home field advantage because they had a good team. These days, the Bears just suck.
I'd have to say that Gillette up in NE is pretty good home field as well. Pretty much any cold weather stadium with good fans is an advantage (not to mention the altitude factor in Denver). That being said, Denver 24-20.
Statistics are like bikinis, interesting in what they reveal, but what they conceal is vital. In this case they conceal that Green Bay is one of the original NFL teams and have had a bit more time to amass that record. Particularly in their early years.Originally Posted by SkiingBear
For home field advantage, Lambeau can have its frigid cold weather but Mile High always has its altitude. As far as the corporate whores moving the stadium one block north and "attempting" to rename it, well you can tell by the crowd noise that it hasn’t affected the fans.
It's gonna be a great game, but my money is on the Steelers./
Why?
1. Denver won easy against the Patriots.
So, did the Colts, and we beat them.
2. Pittsburgh played a VERY hard-fought game against the Colts.
It's going to be another hard fought one this week.
3. 5,280 feet above sea level.
Not too much we can do about that, other than training.
4. The 12th man (i.e. the fans).
I doubt its going to be much louder than playing inside in Indy.
5. Denver has some of the quickest O-line guys in the league.
So does Pittsburgh, in addition to some of the best D-line guys and linebackers. Peyton had only been sacked 17 times all year, and the Steelers got him 5 times yesterday.
6. Plummer's Elway-like game-winning skills.
How many big games before Elway won?
7. Elam.
Vanderjagt last week.
Pittsburgh 21
Denver 17
Comparing Mile-High Stadium to Lambeau Field is ridiculous. Soldier Field maybe but not Mile-High. Mile-High is a great stadium no doubt and can be loud, but is doesn't come close to the history of Lambeau. When they renovated Lambeau Field a few years ago they took part of the old south entrance where Bart Star, Ray Nitchske and the likes entered the field and moved it to the north side just so the new Packer players could walk on the same concrete.Originally Posted by SkiingBear
When the renovation was first talked about the three alternatives were to rebuild on the existing site, rebuild on a new sited and renovate. The result wasn't even close. Almost no fan was in favor of ripping down existing Lambeau Field. Hell it wasn't until a few years ago that the stadium was used for functions other than for Packer Games or scrimmages. The only exception was for the Shopko fireworks display.
1. Denver won easy against the Patriots.
Circle logic. Pretty weak argument.
2. Pittsburgh played a VERY hard-fought game against the Colts.
It was only close because of the refs. You can argue the blown PI call and the INT reversal resulted in a 14 point swing.
3. 5,280 feet above sea level.
Can't argue against that.
4. The 12th man (i.e. the fans).
RCA dome. Minnesota's dome.
5. Denver has some of the quickest O-line guys in the league.
Jeff Hartings and Alan Faneca are pro-bowlers. Marvel Smith would have been were it not for injuries earlier in the season. Also, The steelers D-line is as good as any in the league.
6. Plummer's Elway-like game-winning skills.
Please. That is the most rediculous statement I have heard in a long time. He may be good, but you cannot make the comparison to Elway. He hasn't won shit.
7. Elam.
Reed.
Denver 23
Pittsburgh 20
At least you only made it a three point spread. I see the same but going the other way.

Go broncs.
and I live in Indy. Peyton sucks.
That was my point...nothing compares to Lambeau. BTW, I was there with skiguide for the Christmas day game. A game at Lambeau is something every football fan should attend (was my 3rd time there and skiguide's first).Originally Posted by Grange
And for the sake of the thread I'll say it again, Denver's gonna take this game...and likely the one after that.
The Broncos finished 1 game behind Indy this year...that's fuggin' incredible in this year's AFC. They've been a sleeper team all year, and still no one is giving them the credit they deserve. I can't wait to see them "surprise" everyone.

Steelers played great...hats off. No way they come up with another monumental effort 1 week later ( see San Diego) on the road at altitude. Besides, Shanahan's the man with the game plan. He out-coaches Cowher in his sleep.Broncos by 10.
I agree. I grew up within 15 miles of the stadium and I still love to visit it.Originally Posted by SkiingBear
I think the Bronco's will win the game, but it won't be easy. The Steelers were able to beat one of the best team of the regular season, but the Bronco's made their win look easy.
Yeah, but I still think that Indy came in on a slump. I know they won their last game...but barely if I remember right. I think Dungy tried to play it safe once they had homefield locked up. IMO, when you're on a roll, keep it rolling.Originally Posted by Grange
Sometimes I think NFL teams should be sequestered for the season. I think analyst opinions go to their head. Everyone said that Indy would just roll to the Superbowl...and I think even the players thought they'd just walk right in.

I think it will be close...but Denver comes out on top.
Denver - Seattle Super bowl here we come (I hope...carolina is pretty sick).
They have come up with monumental efforts the last six weeks in a row, why can't they again? They have beaten teams they weren't supposed to, and badly. They were robbed of at least a touchdown and probably two against the colts that would have resulted in a boring blowout instead of the emotional rollercoaster the last five minutes ended up being.Originally Posted by Mott the Hoople

The difference is Plummer is a hell of alot better scrambler than Manning. He will be able to buy himself the time to dump the ball off for 8-10 passes rather than just looking deep and taking the sack.Originally Posted by PaSucks
Hey powwrangler, you see what Plummer is doing there? Yep, that's the bootleg, and once we start establishing the run on the Steelers that little bootleg is going to turn into 50 yard bombs to Ashley Lelie. That's right, once Polymalloo, or whatever his name is, comes in to defend against the run, Lelie is going to smoke whatever corner is covering him. Yep, that's what's going to happen. You know what, yeah the Steelers know it's coming, and there is nothing they can do about it.
"Can't vouch for him, though he seems normal via email."
55 and 51 would be Porter and Farrier. They will sack Plummer
Ok, we'll trade, we'll let you have some sacks, we'll take the win and a trip to the Super Bowl. Yep, sounds like a fair trade!Originally Posted by powwrangler
