    Baker closed today!

Wow, after getting another 18 inches of snow last night (87" in the last 5 days -- 7.25 feet!) and then warming up to 32 degrees, Mt. Baker has closed the mountain for total avy work everywhere today... I can't remember the last time they did this.
    OOOOOOOHHHH, I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!

    '98/'99 ?

I read somewhere that back in the 50's (maybe 60's?) when Baker first started doing avy control, there was a huge slide set off on Honker's that destroyed the lift shack and killed a few lifties inside. not a huge face, but damn- that's some serious slideage for that area.

    Not quite.....

The original surface lift, ceased operation when a natrual slide came down and took out the owner/operators while they where trying to climb up and start the engine.

More recently thou, they have blown all of the windows out of the structures atop of chair 8 a few times now
