I really wish I knew what the fuck you people look like skiing. Spent just about the whole day on the backside/High T with the wife. I was the flailer in the Fullface w/Bros and the Frau had on her bitchin' pink felt hat at the insistance of our daughter.
By the way, Liz: 12:30 - The 'Ho - so money all the way down to the condos and that bus stop (forget the name.) Thigh deep, shaded, cold fresh goodness. Cindy doesn't want to go home tomorrow - neither do I actually.
Also: the cat track from Sugarloaf to Collins sucked so bad in the AM: I've never had to battle a blizzard like that. The payoff was worth it, however.
Yeah, I know how demo bindings work...and these ones SUCKED!!Originally Posted by splat
Sorry Splat, but that made my experience on the Bros not so sweet...but I still love how they ski and the dimensions, so it's cool.
you sketchy character, you
Sorry we missed you, Tipp (and per usual, my phone was on "quiet"). Its odd that we didn't catch you though - usually the Bros are easy to spot. Maybe you should stay a few extra days?
Tipp - take them baby Bros out for a ride.
I know I've read and heard that too, but I don't get it. Once you're mounted forward, then you overpower the tips and it makes me scared to lean forward or pressure the tips because bad things happen. Not exactly the way to get out of the backseat, IMHO. But even on short skis (hell even on my 160 SX-9s), I can really pressure the tips if they're mounted normally. Mr.AG likes center mounted skis though - when we're on the lift, my 167 phat luvs and his 185 PRs look like the same length from the toepiece to shovel, and then you look at the tails and I have like half of the tail his skis do. I don't know if it's a physics thing for my build, what I'm used to, or what. I just like more ski out front.Originally Posted by skiguide
And yeah, I figured we could have moved the whole binding, but considering it took about 20 attempts just to get them to stay put with my boot in them in any position... basically we just gave up messing with them.
What's up with the super low profile tips though?

I'm pissed because basin sucked today. Like normal.
I'm going back tommorow to see if it will suck less when they open gates.
I have noticed from skiing with Mr AG that he has superhuman balance. When i was getting bounced from mank he was rock solid and smooth.Originally Posted by altagirl
Those tips just came out low because they were the first pair made. Those are running about 20mm lower than the production model.Originally Posted by altagirl
I was a little freaked prior to when I took them out last week in this, but they worked beautifully:
The skis are quick-built protos. It takes a couple pair to perfect the setup in the molds to get the right tip height, tail height, camber setting, etc. Those were one shot to test the sidecut and flex mostly. The wood core runs all the way through the tips and tails. They have Thompson's Water Seal and blue metal flake paint for sidewalls. They're for testing, they won't look anything like that when the finished product comes out. But I will agreee those bindings, donated to us by mntlion from the Weigle Heliski archives, are the worst pair of all the ones I've mounted (we're kinda at the bottom of the binding barrel). They require a screwdriver and a bunch of patience to get the wings and toe height right.
And the consensus is that they are too stiff - no doubt. The stiffs will be softer than that pair and the softs will be considerably softer. I sat on the tram plaza and sent them out with about fifteen people last weekend, doing the adjusting for different boot centers for them after each run and we all pretty much agreed on the line that is drawn in the sidewall as the best all around boot center.
Makes sense. I just wasn't sure if it was intentional or not.Originally Posted by splat

Dude, don't let the HCAC hear that, they will put you on a list as well.Originally Posted by flykdog
And for the record, I did not "turn" in Glory Hole; I merely angled myself from the debris to nice powder. In lieu of banishment, I still think skiing is turning. Glory Hole should be one big turn, West Russ maybe 4 big turns, etc.. (Great morning today, nice seeing everyone blow off work for a few freshies)
Xover, I hear Str8line may have an intermediate class coming up you should look into; the fundamentals of turning and not beatering down garbage chute.
PowHo, you should say a few Hail Mary's for that one today, that was close.
See you guys up on the ridge tomorrow morning at sunrise (we are going for a nice little walk a few minutes behind the HCAC in the AM).
I now have to go take a Village and whip my Idiot.

God I can't wait until I move to SLC.
I want to see a picture of Tipp in a fullface.

Sounds like PM Gear should pony up for some new demo binders. It's the critical interface between the prospective customer and the ski, so it's a tough spot to skimp.
Actually, I should have put on the Tyrolias for the 179s, but I just got so used to reaching into the giant basket of Sollies mntlion sent, I didn't think too hard about it. The Tyrolias are far more user friendly, but I wasn't aware how much we'd be passing the Brotos around, til I hit Utah with them. If the skis were a finished product instead of a test run ski, I'd probly have spruced them up with better binders.
But for those who manage to get them dialed, 3 hours of credit is available this semester from the Alta Academy of Binding Tweakers.
Bump, because bumperboat is a tool and I never got the chance to read this thread.

bump for:
1. PowHo taking Minor Finder off his ticklist
2. Z chucking his meat
and 3. to remind DTM the Option is still on his list![]()
