    Spatula thread

I think we need a thread dedicated to Spatula skiers that get annoying questions about their skis everyday.

I'll start with the first question and answer.

    Question:How are they on hardpack?

Answer: They're awesome! Bode Miller helped design them.

Alternate answer: They're awesome! Bode Miller helped design them one night after he and Shane McConkey drank 7 bottles of Wild Turkey. The next morning, Bode won the downhill event at Hahnenkahm, on his Spatulas, while still wasted!

I heard some dork name Shane McConkey designed them? Is that true. I like my skis designed by people that can actually ski, unlike Shane whatever his name is.

On the lift at Brighton in a super Texas-twang:
"Is it tough to cut in those things?"

The stupid questions are funny to me, it's the same one's being asked over and over and over that makes me want to kill:

    What are those?
    What are they for?
    Where did you get them?
    Who makes them?
Why are they shaped like that?
    Where can I get them?
Do you want to sell them?
How do they ski on groomers?
Is it easy to ski powder on them?

old dude behing me talking to his buddy..

"see those skis, I dont see why anyone would ski them with all the tree runs and all"

    followed by,

"Yea those dont turn at all, they are only good in 2+feet of powder"

all I can think of is how closed minded people are, it never seems to amaze me how peopel who have never seen or have skiied the ski before know all about it..

this wasn't so much of a question as a stupid comment.

"or you could just learn how to ski a pair of these (skinny carve skis) and do just as well in the powder"

I just grinned and reminded myself that I had done 3 laps while every other person in line was just finishing their second run.
    Go Sharks.

can be heard coming from every wealthy elderly mountain greeter in Colorado who volunteers once a week for a free pass:

"Those are funny-looking...but I do love the Chubbs!"
You know, there's like a butt-load of gangs at this school. This one gang kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bowstaff.

I named my skis "Butters" because that's what they do.
