Utah Mags....which area? (quick start related)

So, my brother and I are flying into SLC on Monday for a week... We get in at 9:00am so I figure we'll do that quick start thing where you ski free if you show your boarding pass. Not very familiar with either Park City, The Canyons, or Deer Valley.... Which would you recommend and why? The rest of the time I figure we'll ski Alta / Snowbird, and maybe Solitude / Brighton... But don't know which area to choose for the first day (has to be one of either PC, Canyons or DV).

Would also love to hook up for a few runs with any maggots who are interested or have some time. PM if willing to ski a few with a couple of bro's ....

Oh yeah....preemptive "search function JONG" as I'm sure this question has been asked, but I'm too damn busy to keep searching.

If it's free I'd say Deer Valley. Because maybe you could see Stein Eriksen and his hair there.

Quick start is this promotional thing that Park City (et al) has going on...If you fly in and show up at one of the above mentioned ski areas that day, you ski for free. You have to go to the PC website to print out a voucher in order to claim the ticket. Use the search function (try Utah mini summit) to find the link.

Canyons will be your shortest drive directly from Airport, follow by another 10-15 minutes to PCMR and then maybe another 5+ minutes to DV.

Check http://www.skiutah.com/snow_report/ for the latest conditions, one stop shopping.

The Canyons has the best terrain and most diverse in the Park City area. Great steeps and tree skiing in and around 9990, Condor and Tombstone. If you're all about groomed conditions, head for DV.

BTW, PCMR is 3 minutes from The Canyons. And DV is 10 mins from The Canyons. I could walk from The Canyons to PCMR in 15 min.

Having not skiied at The Canyons since it was Park West (and not nearly the size it is now), I'd say if it's a pow day go to Deer Valley. From my days at DV nobody skis the pow there, so there is no competition for the freshies and it will last all day. If it's a crappy high pressure time, maybe DV for their grooming or maybe Canyons for the expanse of terrain. Or I could just be talking out of my ass and maybe you should listen to one of the Utards.

Edit: and follow the Pope's advice on where to ski at DV.

There's another thread somewhere on page 2 where we're already planning a maggot ski day on Sunday.

I skied both Park City and The Canyons. Personally preferred Park City, but can see why other people would pick The Canyons provided there is enough snow and you like steeper runs.
