    Rossignol Squads

Anyone know how I can get my hands on a pair of the new Rossi Squads?
There were 4 different guys skiing them at Fernie last week and I'm kicking myself for not asking them were or how they got them. I've skied the living piss out of my 195 B3 to the point of them being as soft as a dead pocket rocket.
Any help on a hook up would be greatly appreciated.

    WAXMAN,
Pros are definitely a sweet ski from all reports that I've gotten from buddies that are on them, however I'm a brainwashed Rossi only diehard.

The 89 is Super Stiff, I have 3 days on it and it suprised me. The 184 and 189 are suprisingly different, this is where the waist goes from 100 to 104 and less shape for the stiffer bigger ones. if you can, try the 89 then decide between it or the 94. But your only opportunity to try it is at private shop demo's next month. Also you will have to call the Sports Den, I saw some 191's on their wall last week, i believe this is a wood core prototype for all you "foam" bashers.

Going to Charge at Silverton tommorrow, Stoked!!

    two things:

    1) did Rossi release their new squad modeled line? last i heard, the rumor was that they were releasing a new line this year modeled after last year's exclusive B-Squads. has this happened?

    2) FKNA! get your hands on some! hands down they are the best ski i have owned in the last 4 years. they turn great, have an awesome flex pattern throught, are just a fat and burly ski, yet at the same time you can easily feather them through the tightest of lines. they plow through crud and variable snow, actually carve turns on the groomers, and float through the thinnest of powder. do whatever you need to do to get some. you won't regret it.

I've seen and touched many of them in verb after I first saw manu's squad at the 2005 xtreme. They've been on sale in different french spots after the spring. Around the same time, scott begun to sell in selected spots Phil Meier's special edition santiagos, which are nicely covered by black cow skin...

Saw these skis on Phil's feet in Las Leñas in Sept. They look fucking cool, except for the probability of the skin getting wet and weighing a ton/collecting snow? Maybe Foggy knows more; he rode Marte with the man.

FWIW that guy is probably the best/most solid skier I have ever seen ski.

I got a good look at Eric Pehotas' squads yesterday. he was a couple people ahead of me in the spankys line up. 191's with 104 under foot. the tips were shaped like a spear rather than the typical rossi oval and had a V hull shape similar to the legend 8800. the sidewall under foot was almost an inch thick! the top sheet had a big nic near the tip and I noticed some metal underneath. my guess is the graphics are the only thing similar to any production rossi ski out there. someone asked him about the make up of his skis and he replied "dunno, I just ski em, eh"

Yup...I rode the Marte w/Phil in Lenas as well. The 'cow skin' is just thin suede....I don't think it would collect any more snow than than what is normall sitting on top of your skis. But what do I know?

If you do a search for Scott Santiago Limited here in Tech Talk you'll probably dig up my original posts on my Phil run in. I really dug the flex & construction of these skis...if I weren't on Bro's, I'd probably be hunting these down.

And I agree with Hop on Mr. Meir's skiing....holy shit......

yes, they have a layer of metal on the top (witnessed by metal shavings coming up when i had to re-drill a couple of new holes on the heel. they are vertical sandwich (i'm guessing) construction. this is much like the way the flame bigs were made, and any decent race ski. they have some good camber to them, with awesome rebound. the tips have just enough flex to initiate a good turn, and the rebound helps swing/redirect the skis underfoot when transitioning turns. they also have a fair amount of sidecut which makes them ski pretty quickly for the extreme tip width (like 134mm or something). the graphics on mine are exactly the same as the green B4's with a squad 191 logo on the tail instead of a B4.

huh.. I would second hop on that... also because rumor in verb is that (some of that limited edition) hair comes from Phil's pelvic region

I'll try to ask him one of these days

As I understand it the 191s are all protos. Production will be 184, 189s, and 194s. Also from seeing lots of different pairs in the tram line one quick way to tell protos from production is a green triangle on the base of the tips. The protos dont have that from what I have been able to tell. Really want to try the 194s and see how they compare to the Team B3s I have with the same dimensions but in a 196. I also think the ones I have are softer than the production ones but who knows. I do know that since getting the Team B3s, my 103s havent even seen the light of day

There have been a few different incarnations of furry Scott's around for a while. I saw these: http://www.bmskier.com/index.php?opt...d=89&Itemid=42 at ISPO last year.

Yup...that's the them. The skis Phil was on were just slightly different in that the split tail on his didn't have the "bridge"...the splittail on his seemed a bit smaller too...more "notchy". I think there's pics of them on Scott's website...or if you just google for "Scott Santiago Limited" you should pull it up. I'm too lazy to do it myself

thanks for the 411 SkiDeepPow, nice pics.

Now you have to find a new ski. Str8 thinks his 91's are too stiff give him an offer then you will have one for next time, I think rossi is out em now.

Snow at Silverton good today. Only four runs though cause some dude in our group got hurt. Friends only is the key for that place.
