Holy shit. I wonder how that could have gone unseen since the chair goes right over all of that terrain. Tragic.
    RIP

The guy apparently suffocated by going head first into the snow and was not able to extricate himself.
The sheriff’s office mobilized Bellingham Mountain Rescue and the Bellingham Snowmobile Club, and at 7:10 p.m., rescuers found the man buried upside down in snow at the base of a waterfall, below a 10 to 15-foot cliff.
I have seen this happen, and its scary stuff. A boarder went off a nice rock outcrop into deep snow and somersaulted forward. All you could see was the bottom of the board, he was completely inverted. Had we not been where we could assist, the same outcome. Ski with a partner people.

That second rock has had a "rockwell" for a while due to the periodic rain events, several people have had near misses on it this season.

I nearly came to a tragic end in the same location on the big day two years ago. Went off the rock, got hit by my slough from behind and went under, buried to my waist upside down. Fortunately I had assistance getting dug out.

RIP Matthew Chase. I don't recognize the name, but I'm sure there will be some friends or accquaintances who will be suffering his loss. Condolences to all of them and his family.
    Living vicariously through myself.
