    Pissing Blood

I hiked and skied on monday that night I pissed out a bunch of blood so my wife made me go see a Doc he said nothing to worry about it happens a lot to runners. So my question is has this happened to any of you seems strange?
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

No, it does not happen a lot to runners, unless they've been kicked in the kidneys.

Sure it was blood? You weren't eating beets for din-din, were you?

    Good luck.

    Like who?

I don't know of anyone having peed blood before, during, or after an ultra. Pee a lot of other weird shit, yeah, but not blood.

there was an article awhile back (outside mag i think) about ultra-marathoners (sick people who run like 100miles across the desert) which addressed this issue. apparently the constant motion and stress on their internal organs cause them to bleed. of course it doesnt happen to everyone so dont give too much weight to anecdotal evidence.

    edit: found an article

I used to be one of those sick souls and, perhaps, one day I shall be again.

So, they're attibuting the bleeding to insult of the bladder...I never would have thought of that. I'd always linked passing blood to kidney distress or damage. Interesting.

    Tuckerman, how are things flowing?

Well I had test run on my urine and nothing unusual and things are flowing well. It was definitely blood I hate beets. I googled ‘blood in urine’ and found this
‘Strenuous exercise, especially running - Results from repeated jarring of the bladder’
