Anyone have any experience with Descente products?

I got a soft shell jack from Descente for xmas and I was just wondering how quality their stuff was. I still have a chance to exchange it, but I don't think I will unless its reputable to wear down. I've just never had any of their products or known anyone who has, so i'm just wondering.

It seems really sturdy though, so I think it's a keeper.

well, at tremblant all the instructors and patrollers wear this hideous matching descente two pieces...there are also quite a few descente fartbags floating around up there..

But I think their stuff is well made, it better be its expensive as hell.

My experience with Descente techwear is that the stuff does what its supposed to do as far as keeping you warm and dry, but the amount of abuse it can take is not quite up to par with other brands (Marmot, Mountain Hardware, North Face, Patagonia, etc...). I prefer gear that has quailty high-denier nylon patches in high-wear areas. Not sure if Descente has a line that is made for super abuse. I would definately not buy it for backcountry/ice-climbing/mountaineering use.

Never bought any of their ski apparel, but their cycling stuff is excellent.

Descente makes excellent product and has for many years. The fit and hang of the jacket should be noticably better than most other brands right away. The soft shell should wear as well as most but Descente probably is designed less for the wear and tear of wearing a pack all the time then some of the other brands mentioned. Other than that it should be comparable or better then anything else out there.

I bought Descente DNA pants last year, I put about 50 days on them and they are holding up ok, but i need to patch the inside cuff on the pants, pretty much schreded and starting to get wet on warmer days. But good and warm.
