Going to PDX for music, where o where to ski

I'll be driving down to Portland on Wednesday for a music festival. I want to ski Thursday. I was thinking Bachelor until I saw it was a 3 hour cruise. Now I'm thinking Hood Meadows. Anyone going? Any discount lift tickets sold anywhere?

If you like fiddles and banjos and that sort of bru ha ha here is the link to info. My band is Eat n Run playing Saturday night. Moon and Sixpence has some free music and (not free) drinking on Wednesday and Thursday nights. I'll be there if anyone wants to come down. PM me by Tuesday night and I'll give you my cell phone number.

Moon and Sixpence is a good joint. Thursday at Meadows should be pretty nice. Snowing alot up there right now. Sometimes you can get discounted tickets the day before if you order online from their website (www.skihood.com), but I've only seen this for Tuesdays, although I have a pass, so I don't look often.

Preparing for a trip to Africa, so I don't think I'll make it up this week, unfortunately. Have fun.

Thanks, I didn't see anything on their website earlier tonight but I'll check again. Wow, Africa. Seems like I read or saw in a movie about skiing in the Atlas Mtns years ago. Have a memorable and safe trip

If SkiBowl's getting snow, it's the best terrain on Mt. Hood (better than Bachelor, too). It is also closer to Portland and cheaper tix.

Ski Bowl does have some of the best terrain, but is low- so make sure it's cold with new snow. Meadows was my mountain of choice for 3 years. Find the trees in lower Heather... PM me for other info- there are some good, steep stashes there. (Just short.)

I'll likely be back in PDX late tonight... Mt Hood is supposed to get smashed with snow in the next few days. I've got a pass at Meadows, so I'd like to be there for this.

If you want someone to show you around Meadows I'd be happy to (assuming I come back to PDX tonight or tomorrow).

You can sometimes get cheaper tickets at Meadows with a Safeway club card as well, ask the guy at the ticket window...

edit to complain about having to pay $4 to park. What kind of crap is that?

    You need to buy a Snowpark, it's like $15 for a season-long one or $4 for a single-use.

It pays for the plowing and whatnot up on Mt Hood

I won't be down until late this week/weekend, sorry... if you need any tips just PM me.

I think I sent you a pm the same time you posted this. If you have any good tips that would be great, thanks.

I've got a Skibowl pass. My folks are in town starting Thursday, so I won't go up this weekend, but you can borrow my pass if you promise not to get caught. The best snow and terrain will be at Meadows with this storm, the Bowl will be lucky not to get deluged with rain.

I'd offer couch space, but my roommatte is not really cool with that right now.

Thanks for the offer Pete, I have a place to stay though so your roommatte can rest easy. What with all the festival activities going on, Thursday will be my only day to get up skiing followed by fiddlin' my brains out (do I have any left?) at the Moon and Sixpence that night and through the weekend.

Shell gas stations have a deal when you buy 10.00 of gas. Buy 1 tic and get 1 free. There ya go.
