I've been delaying buying a replacement road bike (why buy a bike in January in Maine?), but today seems like the day to do it!

I can still hike. I skied powder all day last year while the Jet was on wind hold. Not to say that the conditions this weekend will be classified as "powder"...

If any place gets it, it will be Jay. But you probably knew that. One of my best days ever was on a max wind hold day when only the Metro was open. Hiked up to the top of River Quai and bombed it in about 2 feet of blower.

Feb and MArch are looking better, but you never know with this shit strong Pacific jet pattern.

Greetings from Plattekill Mountain --

Despite the wrath of good ol' mother nature and a very warm, unseasonable past
week (with record breaking high temps no less)...we're not letting that stop us
at Plattekill Mountain...and we sure hope that doesn't stop you either!

In fact, we are open today and skiing and riding from 8:45am-4:15 with some real
nice spring conditions...and winter is going to be back tomorrow as we are
expecting snow on Saturday and snow showers throughout the day on Sunday.

Today we're skiing/riding with 10 trails open and 2 lifts and we plan to open
the double chair and up the trail count for the weekend once the snow gets firm
again - hopefully for Saturday. Today we're reporting machine groomed loose
granular and spring conditions on a 8-24" base.

We're open this entire weekend including Monday for the Martin Luther King
Holiday. We will be snowtubing Saturday and Sunday night from 5-9pm. For all
the details and a full trail and condition report you can find it all on our
website at www.plattekill.com.

Don't let mother nature fool you...skiing and riding is great on our open
terrain and it's only going to get better as the weekend gets underway! Hope to

Yeah, pretty much chancing it at this point. I did an emotional analysis and decided that:

Anger cause i drove 9 hours to ski crappy icy snow < Anger cause i didn't take a chance and missed out on some good hiking and powder

Plus its a 3 day weekend and if i don't do this, my wife will take me shopping in home depot and bed bath and beyond.

Don't be angry about the conditions! Take the skiing for what it's worth (it's still skiing!) and enjoy being lazy, hanging out in VT, chilling w/ friends or alone. --(and vano, you chose wisely)

God, I love to ski...but I can also find a lot of happiness just hiking in the rain, watching some DVDs I never got to watch yet, staying up late w/ my honey and working out all the kinks.

Maybe I'm just feeling grateful that I get to enjoy a weekend of life, as my coworkers husband was just killed in a car crash yesterday on the Jersey Turnpike...leaving his despondent wife and 2 little boys behind.

Life is what you make of it people. Yes, the weather sucks but Vermont is an awesome place. GO GET SUM regardless!!!

the weather here has been in the upper 50s and lower 60s all we can do here is climb because there is no snow and the singletrack is all mud
