    baker?

2 buddies and I are sitting here in slc and it looks like all the weather is headed to the pnw so we're thinking about going to baker til friday before going home to MN. I'm a little confused by how that area works. It looks like you can't stay on the mountain, but have to stay like 17 miles away. It also doesn't look like there is much for choices there. The biggest thing for us is we need internet at the place we stay. It doesn't look like really any of them have it. Any recomendations?

Also, we're 22 so A) not even sure we can rent a car in WA and B) don't really want to drive in the mountains so some sort of shuttle service would be sweet...Any recommendations from seatle to the hotels? I imagine the hotels have them to get to baker so that shouldn't really be a worry.

I don't ski at baker that much, so I can't help that much, but yes, you do need to be 25 to rent a car and you pretty much need a car to get to skiing from seattle. None of the washington areas are "destination resorts" and most people drive up there for the day. I don't think there is any easy way to take buses from seattle to the mountains. There could be a shuttle from bellingham to baker, but i don't know of one. Whistler might be your best bet. Seattle is not like SLC where you can get everywhere fairly easily by bus, public transportation in seattle sucks.

Dah, don't have our passports with us so whistler is out.

Jackson doesn't look quite far enough north, and places like big mountain in montana don't look like they're really gonna get the snow.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

You can rent a car if you're under 25, but they usually charge an additional fee.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

With all that online poker income, why don't you just buy the rental car company?
You can cut me off from the civilized world. You can incarcerate me with two moronic cellmates. You can torture me with your thrice daily swill, but you cannot break the spirit of a Winchester. My voice shall be heard from this wilderness, and I shall be delivered from this fetid and festering sewer.

I resolve PC issues remotely. Need to get rid of all that pr0n you downloaded on your work laptop? Or did you just get a ton of viruses from searching for "geriatic midget sex"? Either way I can fix them. PM Me for maggot prices.

you need 2 forms of government issued id. don't have birth cert or soc sec card or anything else either.

Looks like we may just go home and come out again at the end of the week as the national weather service is predicting a return to stormyness on thurs.

I think batchy and hood have been good, I don't know where this storm is tracking but I still think you have to lodge about 15mi away. You can still drive to baker from Portland if you set on those plans.

You must stay in Glacier and rent a cabin or something there. It's not the cheapest thing around. Unless your place of residence has a phone, you'll have no cell reception and no internet. High-speed doesn't exist in Glacier. There's a shuttle to Baker every once in awhile, here's a link..http://www.mtbaker.us/busses/index.html. This isn't Utah -- we don't have hotel shuttles to the mountains. Nobody comes out here looking for a vacation.

Well you can always stay in Bellingham an hour away where you will have high speed internet. You can rent a car wherever, Enterprise usually is good to young people.

Not only that but there is an airporter shuttle that runs from Bham to Glacier. If you got the funds fly into BLI stay at one of the hotel/motels and either hitch from the starbucks on Mt baker Hwy or take the shuttle up. Its pretty simple and yeah the goods are coming another 50-70 inch week after the 90 incher last week. Just like Mammoth only better. Who can ski in 140 inches of snow anyways. I'll take 8-12"/day over that anytime

wow looks like we actually made the right decision to stay here in slc. Storm tues-thurs looking big. Blah blah blah to you "don't jinxer's". It's gonna be sweet.

Looks like this weekend could produce another storm and as long as one of these guys is willing to stay there's no way I can leave haha.

Finally got fit for some new boots tonight as my old boots have been killin my feet. Can't wait to get on them and be able to actually make a run without stopping cause my feet are numb/killing. It's been pathetic.
