WWMD: Gotama, Sumo, or Prophet 130

So, I have credit at REI enough to get some fat boards. Can't turn it into cash, so I might as well indulge.

    I could get:

    1. Gotamas now. Wanted these forever, they still have them in stock, but probably not for long.
    2. Wait until the Sumos go on sale in the spring. I'm sure they won't sell out, at $900.
    3. Wait until the Prophet's go on sale in the spring. I'm sure they won't sell out at $800.
    4. Use the credit for a new bike. REI sells some nice looking urban bikes (commuters-what I need). Novara Buzz and some Scott bike whose name escapes me.

The bike seems logical since I need a commuter and I have a pretty stupid quiver already (Spats, Made'ns, ANTs-just to name a few).

Hey, I'm new here but I have the Mojo 80s. They come with a suggested mounting point that is really close to true center, but suggest mounting 9cm back for out of the park. I ski more out of the park then in so I mounted them back, and they just don't feel right. They feel like the flex pattern is definitely designed around that "Jon Olson" true center point.

WTF does this have to do with anything?

Thanks dirty bryan, but REI doesn't sell Head and I just unloaded my Mojo 90s.

The other option to consider would be to hold onto the credit and get the newest and best thing next year. As it is, I wouldn't even get on these skis until february and I'm looking at maybe a handful of days away from Hood this year, unfortunately. And I have unmounted ANTs in my basement still.

But why go fatter than 105 and stick to a traditional camber/sidecut ski? You certainly aren't buying the ski to rock the courderoy.

Buy a Spat, spat variant (cap, db, goode) or save your pennies for the pontoon.

Read much? He already owns spats.

I'd go with Sumos, because they look cool as hell, but I haven't tried them, so that's pretty random advice.

I love my gotamas, but they're probably not different enough from your Made'ns to be worthwhile.

Why can't you turn your REI credit into cash? I heard you can get them to do that if you ask.

The salomon fat jig with the rubber feet removed should fit, right? That's what I used to mount my spats.

I've got Sumo (Volkl) and Tabla Rasa (TR) from DB in past weeks.
GO right away for a discount of TR from Goode if philosophical and ethic don't matter. There are lights and divine creature on Pow but not so cute on hard pack. Use 10 times in eastern Canada.
Sumo: better on hard pack but there are some king of heavy to ski. Use once.

And then...go for the Scott bike (carbon fiber frames) in Summer (later)...

Hold the credit and buy the 190 Sumos when they come out next year. You'll be the coolest kid on the block.

I got my first day on Prophets yesterday in Highlands Bowl and was able to do three non-stops conscutively down Whip's. I don't know if that would be possible for me with any other ski I've been on such as AK Labs, B4's, Big Daddy's, Sanouk, K2Chief, etc. For me the Prophets are a revelation, like a Baja race truck compared to a stock Jeep Cherokee.

i don't know how big you are, and where you are skiing etc. but my Sumos absolutely killed it the other day in 3 feet of pow at Alpine Meadows.
