I just check the stock market and life is good. If MD wants to post the "A" shots, he's welcome too. But it would be fun to see him in a mag too.

Yesterday I was sweating bullets. MD would ask me for my opinion and I'd just have to say I don't know. It's beyond any of his previous hucks.

But today it felt OK for him to drop it. It was good to have a team effort to make it happen. (A big thanks to Meats for doing things I can't) It is creepy, helping your son slip an inrun to a mega huck. I want to help and encourage my kids. Just not kill them.

The lip of the jump is an upward ramp. Jared was still higher than the lip of the jump after 5 frames. And he was still in a racing steeze.

There was a stranger watching below with me and he nearly messed himself. He said that was the coolest thing he had ever seen in his life. When he heard we were all family, I'm sure he thought we were all really insane.

I'm glad it's over and MD is OK. I can relax for a day or two. But I know that there will be future hucks that will cause me much stress and concern. I guess it's the plight of all parents to worry about their kids.

I always knew you were pretty cool! Insightful as well. I do, however, remember when I went to drop Flatbed and asked for your advice and you said I don't know and make sure you have enough speed to clear the rocks. best advice anyone could have ever given!

I just dragged my wife in here to show her the picture. I covered the launch area and asked her how big she thought the whole scene was...she just kind of looked at me funny and said she loved me. I think our marriage is in trouble.

This is why I was nervous the day before.

Here is the ski patrol hauling out the guy who tumbled down the cliif, close to MD.

Here is MD checking out his line.

Here is the Life Flight dusting off.

And here is MD still studying his foe.

So as the chopper clears the area, I'm saying to myself..."Is someone trying to tell us something???"

MD didn't have to worry about skiing down the chutes, and getting hurt like the other guy. He just skipped them all togeather.

How many pages does it take for a thread to be nominated for Hall of Fame?

MD9 - Great job painting the picture with your writing (for us watching at home).

GT40 - A totally awesome dad in being able to support your son(s) in these situations (and for taking great pics too!).

To answer your question, Meaty, I think that while logic tells us that these things are exactly what should slow us down, it's these things that keep us devoted.

It doesn't matter what your particular envelope is--For Meaty it's a 70 -90 foot huck. For the Pope, it's presumably high speed bomb runs on Tele Skis. For me, it has become the motion of achieving of absolute fluidity in any terrain. For someone else, it might be merely linking powder turns.

All of these are only relative to the skier involved and the location of that envelope. And the envelope is what keeps enthrawled, focused and devoted.

    Again, great post!

This is a great post too. Starting to work my way through this thread now. Really good stuff, md9 - got me thinking. Sorry I don't have answers for you.
