You bring up a good point. I guess its easy to let your guard down, and become complacent with familiar terrain. I guess if you are unsure of the snow pack , you should be choosing to ski green light terrain (less than 30 degrees) to ski. In my mind, touring is a like nice walk/skin thru the BC with friends and fresh air with the bonus of skiing some safe lines in the end. The BC is not the place to be searching out extreme terrain.
