    Spats for beginners ?!

How do these look? I hadn't really looked into Scotts but was perusing their website after seeing some really nice looking skis today. Seems these are targetted at beginners. These aren't that fat and don't appear to have reverse camber. Interesting anyway.

The skis I saw were the Phil Meier Pro Model - big, stiff swallowtails, around 193, I think. They looked very sweet. IMO Phil is one of the most under-rated skiers - he was pulling techincal, big tricks in the BC and landing them long before Seth had even thought about them.

How would those help you learn skiing? Presumably a beginner is going to stick to the groomers, which everyone who actually can carve a turn agree Spats are horrendous at.
