    lost all my gear

So I hit the chutes at Rose all afternoon and made it back to Reno in time to watch some football, while at the bar my truck was broken into. They took skis Bandit XXX with less then 20 days on them, Nordica Beasts with custom footbeds and liners, poles, smith goggles, patagonia jacket, and my helmet. My insurance doesn't cover it and the cops laughed when I filed the report. I'm fucking pissed!

That sucks man. I hope that guy who stole your stuff gets what he deserves. I'm thinking ACL rip for him.

Anyway, why doesn't your insurance cover it? Most renter's insurance or home owner's insurance will cover that sort of thing.

Yeah check your parents' homeowners policy if that's your legal residence. What a drag, though.

I would check with your insurance provider. While your car policy won't cover items such skis, bindings, i.e. hard goods, there is usually some coverage for soft goods, coats, bags\luggage, clothing items. It is at least worth a call. That sucks man.

What bar? I'll have to stay extra alert next time I'm around there.

How big are you? I've got a spare XL Boeri in great shape I can give up. I'm in Gardnerville. PM me.

    That sucks.

Renter's or homeowners insurance usually covers your stuff even if outside the home, but not if it is inside a vehicle when stolen. And auto insurance usually doesn't cover personal property within a car unless it's affixed to the car permanently (e.g. boom box = not covered, in-dash stereo = covered).

I had skis stolen twice when left at a rack at a ski area. Renter's insurance covered the skis both times.

You mean if the vehicle is stolen, Goatsucker? Every time my wife left shit (jackets, CD's, etc.) lying openly in the car and it got broken into and the stuff heisted our Renter's insurance paid up (minus the deductible.)

Easyrdr: where is the car registered, meaning, which address? If it's your parent's house you're still covered under their homeowner's ins. possibly.

No, I meant stuff (personal property) stolen out of the car. I thought that's generally not covered.

I hope I'm wrong on this for easyrdr's sake.

When my Subie was stolen, the items lost in the vehicle were broken down in this manner; homeowner's covered the following: fishing gear, tackle box and lures, bike stand, bike tools, stove, sleeping bag.

Car insurance covered: Fishing vest, waders, duffel bags, and other misc clothing.

    That was my experience.

Mr.AG's bike was stolen out of the truck in Moab a few years ago and our homeowners covered it.

    That sucks....

Stop by all of the shops in the area that buy/sell used equipment and let them know your shit was stolen. All of my CDs were stolen during college and they caught the fuckers trying to sell the goods off.

Man dude, that totally sucks. I don't even think I have any gear that you would want. Sorry to hear that.

On a bright note, you've got a free place to stay and a spare sled to ride anytime you show. I'll PM you my digits. And a big thanks for the treats you sent Beaver and me. They fit great and are warm and toasty. Things will work out somehow for you. I have confidence in that at least.

    Hang in there.

Easy -- Remember the Patagonia Primo jacket you recently sent me? Well, I've yet to wear it skiing as I have two other brand new jackets in addition to this one. I've only worn it 3 or 4 times just around town. It's still brand spanking new.

Would a medium fit you and is red your color? If so, it's yours.

I have a pair of skis with bindings that I would be willing to send you for the cost of shipping. They are Rossi 191cm bandit XX with markers. Nothing special, but something to get you started again. Also have some old Dakine ski packs and a pair of smith goggles I would be willing to throw in as well. Send me your mailing address and I'll get them out.
