Take this job and shove it. I will not be your cube monkey anymore.
On Tuesday I dropped a little bomb here at work. I tendered my resignation, giving two weeks notice. Damn it felt good to get that done. Next Friday will end a three-year stint as an OEM buyer in auto production. This summer I made the decision to realize my dream and move from Ontario to BC in order to be near the mountains. For some picking up and moving to the mountains is not a big deal. For me at 28 there were a lot of things to deal with. Relationships, family, friends, and good job all looking to keep me here. But my heart always longing to be there. Yesterday was the point of no return. I quit my job, now it’s game on. New adventures ahead, a vast playground to explore. Vancouver will be my new home. A place to live has been found. The job hunt begins once I get there.
The best part of moving 4500kms across country is going to be the road trip. For three weeks I will be chasing powder making my way from here to there. Leaving Jan 16th from north of Toronto, I have only one set date on this whole adventure. A buddy plays for the Blues and I’ll catch one of his home games in St Louis on the 17th. After this it’s all weather based, wherever it snows I will go. My fingers are crossed that I can hit Summit County, Silverton, AltaBird, Snowbasin, Jackson, Bridger, Crystal and Alpental. But if it’s snowing in Taos, Mammoth, Tahoe, or Banff I will de-tour. The sole purpose of this three weeks is powder. As the weather shapes up and I get out on the road I’ll post up looking for maggots to ski with and share a few beers. Hope to see a bunch of new terrain and meet more great maggots.
Pray for snow![]()
