I was going to say our first run down Lone Pine was money, but so was West Rus, and Glory Hole... pretty much everything except the stupid wind on the East Baldy traverse was really damn good. Glad I got to ski with you!
BTW - good job with the snow dance. You need to do that more often!

Her snow dance is downright dangerous!
We're going to have be careful she doesn't go out clubbing the next time she's in the west, we'll get full on nuclear winter.

was hoping to shoot today, but the light wasn't all that awesome in the morning, so went skiin'
hit some freds, lots of catherines, got to watch my friend learnin' the proper exit technique to the tele-roll, had an unfortunate foray across the EBT that stopped me dead and put a serious layer of ice over my face, but whatever, and more west buff, woO!
Sorry, no pics.Originally Posted by xboat

I managed to get my boots on and a lift ticket quickly enough to join the lineup. Rode the chair up with... (sorry I forgot his name).
Maybe it was that big space between my helmet and goggles that gave him a bad feeling? Maybe it was me, reaching up for a footrest that wasn't there? The Bronx to Manhattan to Brooklyn accent? He sized up my 168 Volkl T50's with 68 underfoot and marker bindings, sea level, flat lander huffing and puffing, and the piece de resistance: "When we get off Collins, I've got to adjust my bindings because there's a big chunk of snow under my boot and the ski is barely hanging on..." and beat a path away from babysitting a tourist.
We went on some nice runs off of high t, but it's hard to keep up speed there on the turny sidecut skis. I tried to keep my bearings as AG's jacket faded into the distance... loose snow blowing wispy trails across her tracks like ghosts trying to make me lose my way.
I tried to remember where we went: left, right, pass the fence, left at the tree, climb up (huff puff) Oh Look! great snow, down, stop, (huff puff) try to keep up, how did we get there? Wind buffed, knee deep! Thigh deep! Face Plant! Get up (huff puff) link some good turns. Right, left again, down to Collins. Start over.
I feigned hunger and cold soon after the baldy traverse so she could get in a few more runs before work. Got down to the base and realized I was actually hungry, and hadn't had breakfast.
After the early lunch, I tried to make it back to Glory Hole, but now looking at the map I went to east greely and down to north rustler. I tried to stay in trees for definition and so I don't know where I was most of the time, just enjoying myself. I only rode sugarloaf and collins, never made it over to wildcat. Once in a while the sun would peek out and reveal some new lines I'd try next. I had to leave by three to catch a bus back and make my flight.
A great final day of my trip.

I come up hard, baby but now I'm cool I didn't make it, sugar playin' by the rules
If you know your history, then you would know where you coming from, then you wouldn't have to ask me, who the heck do I think I am.
Glad you had a good time trayc. Too bad I didn't give a "Change for a nickel?" shout from the lineup at Collins in the morning... I learned to ski at Alta, the place holds a unique and dear place in my heart.
Maybe next time someone will show you the goods over at Supreme![]()

We did Lone Pine on our first run, West Rustler on the 2nd run, Glory Hole on the 3rd, and back to West Rus the 4th. Supreme would have been good, but since I had to get to work, I didn't want to head all the way over there. I wish I could have skied all day - that was sweet!

Sitting in my parent's house in North Idaho completely sore from the two marathon days of Alta good-ness that I had, my mind keeps flashing back to the openings of Supreme bowl on Tuesday and Catherine's on Wednesday.
What a great two days.
