    Scored Peak 7

Yes,.... the disclaimer 1st,there are no pics.Skiing killed my camera last March ,& my buddy's camera wouldn't function in the cold.I've almost got enough money saved for a Canon ELPH,so hopefully in future threads I'll have some pics to post.

I had some friends that were going to Breck yesterday,so against my better judgement,I went along instead of going to the Basin or Loveland. We left Boulder @ 6:30 AM,a bit late for my tastes, but I didn't get much sleep the night before & couldn't seem to rally any faster.2 Hours later we were riding the RM Express at Breck. We skied some fun laps on the T-bar in & around Horseshoe. The New Imperial chair started to turn around 11 & so we went to check out it out. It's short,960' vert with the chairs spaced farther apart than any chair I've seen.We hiked to the top to see if the Lake chutes were open. There's a nice view of Spaulding Bowl at Copper from the top.

I asked a patroler if the Lake chutes were going to open,he replied no,but Peak 7 was open.Enough said! No one else had figured out that Peak 7 was accessable from 8 other than hiking it pre- Imperial chair. We rolled down the side of 8 ,across the saddle & followed a couple of patrollers out between Y Chute & TJ's.

The snow was a little wind packed for the 1st couple of turns, but was
B-E-A-utiful & virgin all the way down.We made another lap with one of the girls that was visiting, hucked a little cornice to the left of TJ's ,skied a couple more off of Horeshoe,& then had to bail to keep from getting ensnared in the parking lot that is I-70.

I'm taking today off in hopes that the next 3 days will have larger snow totals.

    HAPPY NEW YEARS GANG!

The snow up there was definitely deep and fluffy yesterday. There were wind-hammered spots for sure, and some bomb holes to avoid, but overall great snow above Peak 7. It was also nice to be able to hike up and be away from all the gapers for a while!

I loved peak 7 and all the little shit you can access off the T-bar, in fact when I lived in Blue River that was where I skied the most. Y chutes are especially sweet, I have memories of great turns up there, and you can't beat the view, maybe I need to take a trip back to where it all began for me.

They were bombing until almost 11,& very little slid. There was plenty of snow to be had ,although there were of course wind packed areas, which were easy to avoid.

    Yeah ,...I heard that Rossichick!
