I'm heading up to Alta in two minutes. Reading this right now:
Periods of rain and snow. Snow level rising to near 8500 ft. Wind: Very Strong: S.
Synopsis: ...winter storm warning through Sunday morning... A strong moist and mild southwest flow will prevail into this evening. Strong wind gusts today into this evening along with high snow levels. One disturbance will enhance precipitation this morning and then the main upper trough arrives this evening and overnight. A period of heavy snow expected with the cold front tonight. Instability snow showers will continue Sunday morning and then taper off. Next Pacific storm is forecast to be very strong. The associated warm front will arrive early Monday. This too will be mild but cooler than todays storm. South winds could be even stronger on Monday. The cold front arrives Monday night and the main system moves through Utah. Snowfall should also be greater with this storm.
Since when is this Utah weather? I thought we emulated WA or AK or CA not MEX. Does anyone know the history behind winters in Utah with consistent southerly storm patterns?
Bring your Gore-Tex.
