Salt Lake to BC

Alright all - long time lurker, first time poster...I'm a brit doing my second season in Utah.

The opportunity has come up to spend a couple days with friends in Whistler from 8-13 Jan. I'm sick of skiing light, dry fluff and fancy some BC stodge, but getting up there is killing me. US$600 minimum for Delta flights into YVR!

Anyone know any cheapish / low cost carriers or alternate routes to (circa $400) from Salt Lake? Am happy to drive a bit if necessary.
