Ugh!! Two hours and 40 miles on my rollers last night

I can't say it was the funnest thing I've ever done. In fact, it was pretty close to the worst. Another 1 1/2 hours at lunch today, then 1 1/2 hours at home on the rollers tonight. I think I'll take tomorrow off and get my first ski day of the year out from under my belt.

for me, more than 1 hr on the rollers = sleepy peepee. and yes, my saddle angle is correct.

what are you training for that you are putting in such inhumane time on the rollers?

I get sleepy peepee too, just have to stand up for 30 seconds or so every 30 minutes.

Training for the race season in general, not one specific race. Trying to get my Cat 2 upgrade early spring, it's nearly all base miles at this point. Not so enjoyable, but it'll pay off.

I am starting the roller training in January..

But with rollers, I can only go a bit over an hour...standing up on those things is freakin' SCARY!
I did have an old boss who could juggle while riding rollers. Neat, useful skill.
Good luck on your Cat 2 upgrade...those guys are slow.

Holy shit! I can only last an hour and I'm done due to mindfucking boredom. And that's with ski movies on!

you sik fuk. road racing. aaaarrrggghh. some of my riding buddies are former road racers. disturbingly strong riders, love to punish me on climbs. my only revenge comes on the descent.

good luck keeping the regimen going, that's a burly one and sure to drive any man to insanity.

I'm not sure exactly how many it will amount too. Once the race season starts it will be only race/recover with tue and wed night crits and the weekend road or stage race. So probably 10-12 hours a week from April through September. It will be around 700 from November to September. However, that involves cross training as well, which I'll do through February, maybe 3-5 hours per week, skate skiing and touring primarily.

Nice...the elusive 700 hr training schedule. I've got a friend doing the same going for the Cat2 upgrade as well. I'm aiming for the cat3, and maybe do some elite cross races this fall.

That sounds miserable, but that's probably what it takes to upgrade to 2. I will be racing 3s in New Mexico this year. The snow situation is shit here right now due to the warmth and lack of precipitation, but the riding has been great. I put in a 100 mile day on New Years day

it seems to me that if you like biking that much you should move to somewhere warmer.

I was at a friends house on Friday night and at about 11 decided that it would be a good idea for me to ride his rollers with a dirt jumping bike.

I could ride it a bit, but because it was so small, combined with a few other issues, I couldn't pedal smoothly and was quite wobbly. I did learn that you should not to lock up the rear brake if you're in close proximity to a wall though. Assuming my deal on a road bike (I'm selling out in hopes of riding to work) comes through, I may pick up a set.

Careful not to get burned out on the rollers! I won't ride more than an hour on my trainer. I get too burned out. Go run, go to the gym, snowshoe, xc ski.... or downhill ski! Backcountry skiing is a great workout too! Do that more instead of the rollers! Don't get burned out. Lots more riding to do in the spring!

If he's aiming at the Cat 2 upgrade...chances are he really enjoys sitting on the rollers. I dont know him, but I dont think a burnout is in phil's future. Maybe in june or july.

Viva, unfortunately my SD trip was derailled by St. George training camp and Valley of the Sun in phoenix in a few weeks. Kind of bummed about it, but at least camp was fun. Unfortunately I don't have unlimited vacation time. Hopefully next year though.

As for burnout, I can definitely feel I need a bit of a break. Haven't ridden rollers for a while, was in sunny St. George last week and rode my ass into the ground, still a bit tired from that. This week, however, is recovery so very limited riding, thank goodness for that.
