Smile Attention Utards: Snowbird beacon locator park is open.

The beacon locator park at Snowbird is now open and free to the
public. It's sponsored by Wasatch Backcountry Rescue and
Snowbird and located just off the bypass road in upper Little
    Cottonwood Canyon.

Awesome. Sure is nice to see big money pitching in for a free amenity like that. Very necessary, too.

    Thumbs up

Good lookin' out, phUnk. I love that Snowbird has this drill course.

Hmmmm, I wonder if the SOC folks make use of the opportunity to do beacon drills there.

Oh wait, it's right next to the WPG helipad. Silly me!

it's been open for two weeks now. you should bring an ear plug for your beacon. it's pretty hard to hear when they've got the bird warming up or doing laps.

Good idea. Don't forget to take the earplugs in the backcountry too, since A-stars are buzzing you guys constantly out there. They'll give you some peace & quiet, no?

And hey, if someone in your party gets buried in an avalanche, it's good to have the earplugs on hand -- you can put them in while all the news choppers are hovering overhead and droning out beacon noises.

Makes for good practice, I suppose.

don't be a fucking asshole. i'm trying to be helpful here. take your bullshit elsewhere.

and they're not earplugs. there is an ear piece specifically designed to go into the beacon that transmits the sound directly to your ear. it is very helpful if you have multiple people searching or other outside noise. now take your cunting bitch ass to another thread and quite talking about shit you know nothing of!
