    ride in Peru, anyone?

So, I am trying to put together a trip to Peru to ride May 7-14th.
Here is the deal...starting in Cusco, I am looking to get 8-12 people together to pool expenses and do a mini one week epic.
This is a rough-in of a possible itinerary:
Day 1: Meet in Cusco, get settled at hotel...get on bikes and do a warm up ride..Cusco is at 11,000 feet or so, so this is a good tour of local ruins, some singletrack. Eat at a superb typical Peruvian restaurant. (this will also be a food tour)
Day 2: Get on bikes and do a more extensive climbing warmup, followed by good singletrack into town. Lots of ruins, views of huge andes, photo ops, etc. Another great meal at night.
Day three...ride to the sacred valley, on undulating roads and singletrack.
    Explore Pisac, chill out.
Day four: HUGE DESCENT...maybe 10-12,000 DH singletrack. Need I say more?
go to four star hotel, eat, drink, and be bushed.
Day 5: rest day, train to Macchu Picchu, day hike, etc. Maybe stay in a super swank hotel if budget allows, stay at swank if not.
Day 6: Well, more 'out there' singletrack on inca and pre-inca trails, far away from the gringo trail...head back into Cusco, settle in, eat well again...and prepare to party all night (and I do mean all night) in the thriving club scene. Things don't even pick up until well after 1:00 am.
Day : shake cobwebs out of head, and your slutty friend out of bed...Time to catch your flight at 4:00 pm os so.
    Would any maggots be interested?
It would give you a huge training boost week before the season really turns on at home, in addition to all of the sickness.
I can give many more details if anyone is interested...this will be my 10th trip to Peru to ride, so I've got the thing pretty dialed.
Cost would depend on the numbers, but could be between $1250-$1750 for the week, all transportation, hotels, meals, tips, 4X4's, snacks, gatorade, etc included in Peru, including airfare to and from Lima-Cusco.( NOT from outside of the country)
Please chime in if interested, good maggots!

    yeah, I know....

The mule wouldn't fit in the A-star, so....

you do what you have to do at 15,550 feet. We came UP this valley...the first day was riding the bikes from 7,500 feet to 13,500, where we set up camp and drank. The next day it really got steep...too steep to ride, up to the top of Hondo Pass, which sits at 15,550. Then we rode down to a town called Chacas, at 8,000 feet os so. BURLY CC DH....yummy. The Mule handler accidentaly severed my front brake line for this descent..it was a wee bit hairball. Rachel, photo above, cried a lot, but loved it.

Very interesting. Keep me in the loop please. What's the best way to get more info about the trip as details fall into place?

PM me, I'm serious on this...

I will be doing a very similar trip the week before, so i will have any kinks worked out. I think that we can do this quite inexpensively, I will try to create a daily breakdown soon.
There is a certain amount of security that you have to 'purchase' when running around Peru with silly expensive bikes, so that does affect things. Anyone interested, please post questions, and I can reply.
My personal site is www.pocolotours.com , ignore the Nov. trip, obviously. PS, I am looking for a professional website builder!

OOOOOOOhhhhhhhh droooooool worthy trip. When would you need someone to actually pull the trigger on something like this? Could someone hold out till late March to commit?

And to clarify price, that could including airfair from say Canuckistan aka Canada land of hosers.

I would like to know ASAP, of course...

The sooner I have confirms, the cheaper I can broker some arrangements. Airfare to Peru is up to you, I can't broker any deals on that. I do have all internal travel covered, however. I generally pay about $600 or so from SLC, if that helps. C'mon, let's do this!

Hmm, count me in as interested . . . might be hard to pull myself away from Alaska in May, but this could be pretty damn sweet . . .

I think we have the beginnings of a hard charging, partying crew of JH locals to commit. I will PM you with some details...can you ask anyone in your cycling posse if they might be interested? Cheaper by the dozen, and all of that...

Looks like 4-5 people, about $1500 more or less all inclusive for the week, minus airfare and last night celebration. The price drops about $100 per extra person, down to about $1200. This is a very, very fair price for a world class tour. Feel free to PM me for more complete details.
